It’s hard to know what constitutes a ‘budget’ fishing rod these days. I mean, I’ve seen perfectly usable rods for as little as £10. The Enrapture range consists of various match, commercial carp and ledger rods, all of which are under £40. To me, that’s a budget range.
It has to be said, the three-piece 3m (9′ 10”) carp/match rod that I have looks fantastic. The blank is a kind of matt metallic dark green, with lined rings throughout. The butt section has a good ‘foam’ grip and the reel seat is nice and tight. To be honest, it would be hard to put a price on this rod by looks alone.
It’s designed to chuck out 5-25g weights – perfect for just about any float you’ll ever need.
The rod bends smoothly under pressure and is perfectly capable of handling anything that most commercial fisheries will throw at it.
SO, WHO WILL USE THE FLADEN ENRAPTURE CARP/MATCH ROD?
With it’s relatively short length, this rod is ideally suited to smaller commercial waters, where it will happily throw out a waggler and land F1 carp all day long. The length also lends itself to margin work.
Also, not every river allows the angler to use the ‘usual’ twelve or thirteen foot rod. If you’re stuck for space, due to the width of the river or overhanging trees and bushes, this would be a good choice.
SUMMARY
This is a great rod, especially for the money, and would make me interested in the rest of the range. At this price bracket, it’s pitched in the same league as the Maver Abyss rods. This may be where it struggles, as those rods are currently better known. However, if you get the chance, take a look at both of them side-by-side. If you’re after a three-piece match/carp rod, this may well be it.
