Just a few quick comments-

Jim I think a lot of things actually iritate us anglers more than the fish them selves! ie jet skis, radios, boats, constant leading etc etc.A bit of consideration for borth anglers and fish would be good.

Cammo boots, had a pair once but got fed up with constantly weeing on my feet.

The need to cammo everything, right pull up a sand bag and swing thew tilley lamp! when I was in the Army some sad people thought it the height of proffesionalism to camoflage everything.Im not talking about jusdt putting some black masking tape around a few things but actually buying various tins of Airfix paints and painting intricate DPM patterns on their mess tins,KFS,mugs, pens etc etc.No Realtree tape in them olden days! Most of the guys who did this had pretty rear echelon jobs like clerks and storemen

Tel is quite right there is no harm in it at all as some one else mentioned its just a uniform. But conversely some need to remember that just because you aint totally clad in camo you are not any a lesser angler!

Sound in water, sound IS vibration easy as that, despite a lot of hours diving/watching fish,"clonking" for cats Im still not sure on if it frightens them or not.It very much depends on what the sound is and if the fish are used or not to it.

One last comment on the cammo clothing scene,Ex army gear has always been used by specialist anglers (floppy hat and combat jacket brigade)back to the days of Walker etc.The reason was that back then Army surplus was the best ,cheap out door clothing avaiable.(In fact the reason Den has taken so long to catch a thirty is that for so many years he wore his old bright red tunic from his Crimea days! :P )And wot is all this "beaver slapping" buisness mate?

Using hunting clothing from the US was also a good way of buying quality outdoor gear just that it all came in cammo. These days any clothing manufacturer targeting the angling market is forced to produce it!

Non essential in most cases but harmless...as indeed is the micky taking that goes along with it.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I hate to tell all you guys but cammo stuff is all sooo last season. Having just staggered out of my garage after a heavy six month R & D session I'm pleased to announce the ultimate camouflage device. After intensive studying of Star Trek movies and Harry Potter novels, coupled with experimentation on old computer motherboards and PCBs from old hat bite alarms, the first bivvy cloaking device will soon be available. There will also be a personal cloaking device and attire underneath it will be of no consequence. Simply send me your credit card number and details and await delivery... and to prove it works, once the money has cleared, I will disappear. :D

I accidentally broke part of the lid of the Fox tackle box last night when mother was calling me from the top of the stairs :o while I was on the computer.

Oh s***, I thought I will have to buy a new one now until reading an article in a carp magazine that there a tackle box being plastered in camouflage tape! :):D

There a thought, good job I brought some camouflage duck tape last week. :):D

Talking of noise and vibration. Isn't it called clonking when the surface of the water is beaten to attract catfish? The splashing of a spod can certainly attract carp. Perhaps instead of shouting across lakes we should sing to one another. A Tenor may be someone to go fishing with whilst a castrati should be avoided at all costs.

Dick Walker claimed that fish like opera, and while I can't vouch for the fact (I never fished with him) I'm led to believe that he'd often give them an aria or two! I've tried the occasional rendition of the first few lines of La Donna e Mobile (spelling?), but results thus far have been inconclusive.

Jim - I've never managed to contact Donna on her mobile, but I'm told she makes it well worth your while if you can.

If I recall the Dick Walker opera story correctly, he claimed that roach liked one composer, but dace preferred another, and that he could catch either species at will, depending on what he sang. What his astonished companion didn't twig was that Walker was just adjusting the depth at which his float was set - deeper for roach, shallower for dace, so that he appeared to be influencing the fish by his singing!
