cant beat a good ol' garage, even if it leaks and is permenantly damp, but its out of the frost and the UV
  6. Where do you start? 1. seatrout fishing in the falklands 2. less than 600 quid? i'd save the money and have a fortnight fishing at home, the dorset coast is a beautiful as anywhere on earth ( or i might take the yak to the dingle penninsula bass fishing!!!)
  7. Well i thought it was time to let everyone know that i didnt choke on my own puke, i retired to dorset to like as a kayaking hermit. Occasionally thumping the tubs for local bands. Oh well, i guess im gonna have to find my real mug shot now
  8. Sorry, i put the wrong photo up, this is clearly Slash from Guns and roses This is me with my band (sorry all yak photos are on my computer at home)
  9. Definately Agreed about the battery life indicator though, once it moves of of completely full, its time to change!!
  10. Hello Steve, nice to see you over here! Agreed, the W10 is a cracking little camera and for a shade over 120 notes, its a bargain. I have taken a few underwater shots with it and have been very impressed, once i got over the "im putting my camera under the water now, this isnt right feelings" it worked fine. Highly recommended jon
  11. So, winters here, and i refuse to put the yak to bed for the next 5 months. BUT i aint got no dry suit and cant afford one either!! so my options are as follows, old pair of breathable waders, stocking foot flotation suit trousers, and neoprene wellies or bite the bullet and try to find a pair of cheap yak trousers Which option is the safest Any ideas, i did have a contact in the industry that reckond he could get typhoon racers for less than a ton, but when somthing seems too good to be true, it usually is and in this case it was!
  12. Sod the phone, where do you put your legs!
  13. Well i assume they all sound like windy millers windmill, which is very noisy and 300 of them will be heard in Cardiff. Its all b*llocks, set up by the government to make us think they are doing something to tackle global warming, in truth the turbines cost so much to set up that they take 10-15 years before they pay for themselves and the construction process creates more carbon than they they will save. Most forward thinking countries (Scandinavia) have left wind power behind as it is soo inefficiant. Grrrrrrr
  14. Cant do friday as its the works xmas do so guiness a plenty all day BUT, me and my mate from work are looking at getting out to poole or portland between xmas and new year to paddle of those excess calories if anyones interested?
  15. Felicitations of the season to one an all May 2007 be fish filled for all of you and thanks for all the advice you lot have given me since i got my yak, hope to fish with some of you next year
  16. I think before you go about putting a mag together, what a bout a proper club/society for yakkers, that would then produce its own quaterly mag, like BASS does. Its cheaper with a guarranteed readership, and would only contain relevant articles and reviews. The BASS mag is a fantasticread and for 20 odd quid a year bloody good value. Just a thought. We could have Y.U.K (Yakkers of the United Kingdom) or K.R.A.P - Kayak recreational Anglers Posse. This could be a thread on its own!!!
  17. Sea Angler is a backward thinking pile of horseshit We in BASS have been trying to get our message across for years and are completely ignored. I love it when Alan Yates replied to a question send in by a reader "Can you give me some advice on starting saltwater fly fishing" Yates replied that you shouldnt bother as it was the reserve of game anglers who want to make life hard for themselves. What an idiot. How would he know, all he ever does is lob bait at the horizon and wind in 500 2" pout in a match somwhere and yet he is always answering the bass fishing questions. I complained bitterly about this and got naff all back We should all vote with our feet and stop buying this crappy rag, looks as though most of has already have. C'mon when was the last time you ever learnt anything from one of their articles which all follow the same format anyway:- -I went fishing - I took some gear (usually from a sponser) - We caught some fish (on undisclosed rigs, because we dont want you knowing our secrets) - We went home Honestly, all of their artcles read like a five year olds diary, Total sea fishing is a bit better, but i have always thought there is room for a sport fishing mag, that deals with yaks, plugging, fly fishing, light gear fishing for the bigger species, conservation, sciencey stuff etc etc
  18. To try and actually get out and fish regularly, to meet up with the south coast lot once in a while so i can actually learn what to do in my big orange garage decoration!, to convince my best mate/fishing buddy that he needs to get one and to balance all of that with becoming a dad for the first time in May
  19. chatreuse or pink and white clouser and keep it small and simple (sizes 2-6), mackeral will destroy a fly in no time as will pollack, so dont waste your hard earned cash on shop bought stuff. Tie your ownn, its much more satisfying and a darn site cheaper. My Clouser pattern consistes only of bucktail and the dumbell eyes, get really good quality hooks from Austen at uksaltwaterflies, as you can strip them off and use them again if your quick
  20. try it if the price is right i tried one but as i'm 6'5" it was way too short in the cabin
  21. Why spend 250 quid? whatever you get will get trashed, believe me, I wait for the tightlines spring clearout and get a load of their airflo presntation series rods 9' 8/9wt, three piece, with cordura rod tube, retail at 160 the knock em out at 25 quid a pop, they even have a lifetime guarantee!!! when i fel on one, i had the nerve to send it back and they replaced it!!!!!!! If you really have to spend £250, just buy ten of them !!!!
  22. Yeah, where are the rest of them, in the hull perhaps?, why wouls anyone be stupid enough to only take five rods on their Kayak?
