no,thats a golden orfe.it was more slender with bigger scales,a larger mouth and it was a paler orange,it had red eyes.

I caught a fish today that I can only describe as being like an albino chub of about 3lb,it had slightly orange scales and red eyes,it was exactly like a chub except it didn't really put a fight up.does anybody know the species?or could it have actually been an albino chub .I just wish I had taken a camera.

I found a really small dead one washed up on the bank of the river aire above skipton.

I came across what I think may have been an otter kill yesterday,it was chub scales and its chewed head,on the river aire just above skipton,on a stretch where there aren't that many chub,I have seen an otter up there a couple of months ago and it was nice to see,The last time someone saw an otter up there it was shot dead.I do think that comorants and gooseander are more of a problem,they seem to be everywhere I go,and sometimes numerous.

With the amount of water in the river aire at the moment (very high)will the salt make that much difference?

Whenever I catch crayfish,I put them back,I just couldn't kill something and leave it to rot on the bank,if I caught enough to have decent snack then no I wouldn't return them,but you're never gonna catch enough with rod and line.

I had a 14lb mirror out of the canal last year,I have seen a lot of carp during the summer,there does seem to be a lot of BIG ghosties,but what area are you talking about,it is a very long stretch of water
