  1. Google said that the urban myth does NOT exist: Its only a myth. Eskimoes are only polar bears without hair on the soles of their feet. Cheers all. Bill
  2. Blimey Newt, That aint Nurse Judy is it??????????? Cheers Bill
  3. No, it only LOOKS like I swallowed a piano.
  4. Just a quick tip if you use artificial bread Jon. I use the bread on the hook and loose feed the biscuits. The rudd will be unable to remove the bread from the hook before any carp arrive. By the way without wishing to advertise, the artificial bread made by Partridge is far superior in looks and feel to that produces by Enterprise. Good luck Bill
  5. I have been using ewe nuts for the past couple of years. They break down quite rapidly in water and soon leave a nice light mix on the bottom which I think attracts fish once one of them stirs it up a bit. I usually mix a bucket full of nuts and trout pellets together and after a time the nuts absorb a lot of the oil from the pellets and take on a very dark colour. This mix is either spodded out or used in a PVA bag. As the ewe nuts are so cheap it certainly cuts down on the expenses. I have certainly caught a lot of carp since I have started to use them and have a lot of confidence in them. Give them a go and good luck. Cheers Bill
  6. OK Alan, HOW LONG IS THE QUEUE??? Cheers All Bill
  7. Hi Gray, On 20th May your email said my avatar (Kingfisher) was on its way. I still aint got it. Could you look into it please? Cheers and Thanks. Bill
  8. Hi Zipper and welcome. Well, sorry to here about the trouble you are having and I don't see why you can't name and shame the dealer concerned. If "trading standards" have already supported your case, why don't you take it back to them together with the dealers letter asking for that ridiculous amount and let them take the case up direct. I would also be inclined to see if your local paper would be interested in the story. Twits like him do notr deserve to do any business. Keep fighting and good luck with the outcome. Bill
  9. I have tried it but didn't find it did any good and I have given most of the vials away to other anglers. As has been stated the smell is not too good and difficult to get rid of. No-one I have discussed it with has had much success with it and although they have caught fish whilst using it have not been able to claim the catch was as a direct result of using it. You pays your money and takes your choice. Bill
  10. Or in Gaffers case STAINLESS STEEL. Bill
  11. RODRING RODRING SHINING BRIGHT IN THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT TO LOOK DEAD COOL IS GAFFERS WISH BUT WILL THEY CATCH HIM BIGGER FISH??? Sorry Gaffer All the Best Bill
  12. Gawd blimey you lot, I've never read so much twaddle. A. GET EM PROPERLY TRAINED B. IF THEY DON'T OBEY YOU, PUNISH EM BY GOING FISHING FOR LONG SESSIONS. iTS EASY, Cheers & good luck Bill
  13. Hi Dean, Seems to me that you aint doing very much wrong. Apart from the reasons already mentioned I can only suggest that you ensure your hooks are needle sharp. All the best. Bill
  14. CSL stands for CORN STEEP LIQUOR and is a very popular liquid used for steeping boilies, mixing with ground bait etc. I only carp fish nowadays so couldn't say if its any good for general course fishing but would certainly say that its worth a try. No doubt someone will give you advice on this aspect. Good luck. Bill
  15. Can this really be true??? Will Gaffer actually own up to this traitrous deed which im my book puts him on a par with Saddam Hussein. This has really put me off (or ORF as Gaffer will now say) my bleedin cornflakes. I womder if trout will accept furry boilies? A VERY SAD DAY FOR THE NET! Bill
  16. Hello Bri and welcome. You don't have to lay out a fortune. Try Pendle View near Clitheroe. Reasonably priced and contains some nice fish up to low thirties. It is situated on the A59 about one and a half miles South of Clitheroe. All the best Bill
  17. Many thanks for the advice fellas and I'm pleased to say that I have now got it all in (as the bishop said to the actress). But pillows as well? The mind boggles. Anyway I am now off for a seven day session and if I am not frozen stiff should be able to pack the bivvy away when I finish. Thanks again to you both. Cheers Bill
  18. Seeing a mention of marshmallow reminded me ofan experience I had some years ago whilst fishing a local carp pond. The fish went a maximum of about 8lb and were fairly easil caught. One summer evening I was watching them cruising just below the surface and remembered I had a bag of large marshmallows in my car and decided to give them a try as a floated. I cast one into the margin and within a minute or two saw a carp of about three pounds come up beneath the bait and attempt to suck it in. Try as it might that carp just couldn't draw it into its mouth and obviously the marshmallow was too large and far too bouyant. After a dozen attempts the carp gave up in disgust and swam away. So yes a marshmallow will work but please for the sake of the carps sanity, only use a SMALL one. Cheers all Bill
  19. Hi all. I have purchased a second hand fox easidome X 2 man bivvy. I have practised putting it up and taking it down a couple of times just to get used to it and found it quite easy and fast to do. However, I then hit a snag. How the hell do you get the damned thing back into its carrying bag? I have tried every way I can think of and being 6' 2" in height and weighing 19st do not lack strength but try as I might I can't get it all back in. Does anyone know the correct way to do it? A sketch would be much appreciated. Please help if you can, I am going carping for a week on Thursday. Thanks in anticipation Cheers all Bill
  20. Blimey Newt, what stroke are you trying to pull. Over here our landing nets are bigger than that little pup tent. All the Best Bill
  21. Well done Sean, Great story, well written. I felt I was almost there with you. All the Best
  22. Hi Gaffer and thanks for the mention of the cork ball. To be honest I've had some in my kit for a couple of years but have never felt confident to use them. I think to myself that I will give it a try when I find the carp in a feeding frenzy but since I purchased the cork it has never happened. I will try it this year when the weather warms up a bit. Well I hope Carpking has received some help from all the replies, I know I have and I wasn't asking for it. As I said to Newt, you are never to old to learn and there is no doubt in my mind that the carp are becoming better educated too. All the Best Bill
  23. Thanks for the tip Newt. What a very simple idea that is (I wish I had thought of it} and, of course, there is nothing stopping you using two or three lumps for even greater distance. Her indoors will be delighted when shopping next week to find bags of sugar cubes suddenly appearing on the shopping list. I'm 68 this year and still learning LOL. Cheers Newt Bill
  24. Personally I like to freeline and with good use of any wind blowing it is possible to cover quite a lot of water. If I am using bread crust, the hook is put straight through the crust and if using dog biscuits etc I fish it hair rigged. I love all methods of carp fishing but the excitement of seeing a swirl around a floating bait takes some beating, or on a pitch black night when you hear that lip smacking slurp out in the darkness it can be almost heart stopping. try to get your bait in under overhanging trees and bushes or right alongside a patch of weed, you never no when that biggie may be hovering and feeling safe comes up to take the floater confidently. Its nearly 2-40 a.m. now but typing this is giving me the urge to go carping but its freezing cold so I will resist the temptation and got to bed. Good luck with your fishing and do let the forum know how you get on. All the Best Bill
  25. Thanks a lot for that one Newt. At last I can tell the world about the record 187lb mirror that I caught in a tiny farm pond only yards from my own house. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me at the time so I put the carp in a sack, ran home for the camera and just as I got back to the pond I saw a pike of at least 400lb swallow my carp, sack and all. Well my lawn is looking pretty wet, probably a few 200lb+ swimming about amongst the grass so I'll give it a go at first light. Good luck all & Merry Xmas Bill
