  1. One of mine said,"cannot concentrate, tends to daydream"................. Now where was I?
  2. Me and Skippy have much in common!
  3. Try leaving the box on a cool garage floor in the shade, preferably with the lid off. To stop the smell, use clean sawdust or bran which has been slightly dampened with an atomiser and change it every other day.You will need a maggot riddle for this job. To make them smell a little sweeter you could use any one of the flavours available in tackle shops.
  4. Judy, Sounds like you need to have a look at Polaris floats. These are for fishing in any depth of water and come in a variety of sizes. You can even use them with either a feeder or bomb on your line.
  5. Dressing from head to toe in the latest camo gear And then casting 100 yards out into a lake!
  6. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, Teach him how to fish and you'll never see him again at weekends.
  7. A cheaper alternative to Weetabix is layers mash. You can buy a big bag full from most farms that sell eggs. The tench love it,as do bream. Also, try grinding up some weetabix and mixing it with sausage meat till you get a stiff paste. This works for carp, tench ,chub and barbel.
  8. People tend to use bloodworm in winter when the going gets tough. If you shop around,I am sure you will find a supplier,or ask another angler. As for those tiny hooks, you can now buy them ready tied.Best to leave using bloodworm untill next winter on those days when you have to break the ice! Then it's time to get out the bread punches.
  9. Did this accident happen on a hare pin bend?
  10. Sorry chaps. Spot of engine trouble, will try again later.
  11. I believe you can now buy Sensas Close Season patches from your tackle shop Del. Give these a try!
  12. As a general guide John, the fruit flavours tend to work in summer and spicey ones work in Autumn and Winter. I have spent pounds on different flavours over the years, and can't honestly say that any of them have improved my catches. If you want to try one then I reckon Scopex has stood the test of time and would appear to work for most species. Also worth a look are any fruit flavours.Even if they don't improve your catches,at least your hands smell a bit sweeter at the end of your session!

    BRAID

Howdy Zed, and welcome to AN. Get hold of some Drennan feeder braid in 6lb BS. It isn't too expensive, and does the job. It isn't a good idea to fish braid straight through to the hook length, and you can buy or even make whats called a braid "bungee". This is basically a short length of power gum attached to a couple of swivels, and acts as a shock absorber. You must remember not to strike too hard at bites when using braids, or you will just break the hook length or rip the hook out of the fishes mouth.
  14. I have never liked the look of Captain Birdseye!
  15. I once tried freezing casters. When I came to defrost them, they nearly all bursted.Better to either buy yours as you need them, or turn your own, which can work out to be expensive, as you only get roughly half of the maggots to turn. Hence the price difference between maggots and casters.
  16. Martin Salisbury would be able to help you with this one Ben. He does post on this forum from time to time. He has written a guide to fishing in the north west, and I think that it included a lake district section. May be worth searching out a copy.
  17. Have you tried laying off the sprouts Blackvelvet?
  18. if it's owt like our local canal Del, they will need a skip just for the Asda trolleys and dog m**k!
  19. Can you get a licence to shoot women? Will try the post office today.
  20. Any way, there were these two nuns in a bath and one says to the other.................
  21. Unless I am very much mistaken, that looks like the elusive camel toe!
