Lets face it, it's all about oil. The only real reason why the US is going to war against Iraq is about the supply and price of oil. It can't be under-estimated how importamt oil is to the US and European economies. The US need a regime change in Iraq to bring more of it's oil on-line, and not to be dependant on the Saudis. The Saudi royal family is losing their grip on their country, and the worst case scenario is that it could go the same way as of Iran in 1979. This is why the US want to get back into Iraq.

When I first heard about this a couple of weeks ago on this board I thought that this is a joke. I still do. Someone tell me that this is a wind-up, that there are people out there that want angling banned!? I can't believe we're even listening to them, never mind talking about them.

Why the F**K would you want to write in 'TXT' in this forum when you have a perfectly good keyboard in front of you!? TXTing if for mobile phones because it has only a few keys and there is a character limit to SMS messages. Using TXT anywhere else is just plain ignorant!

I was in a fish mongers shop (not a good one I might add) here in Dublin last Friday and they had sea bass for sale. And they were no way near those limits! :mad: They barely touched 30cm!!! And come to think of it they were smaller, about the the size of a mackerel. How can they sell these fish when they're well below the legal limit? I asked my father in-law about this (he's use to work for the sea fisheries board here and is now retired ). And he said that those sea bass were probably imported into Ireland from the UK. As boats here aren't allowed to land catches of sea bass here and there is a 12 mile fishing exclusion zone around the coast. All this is aimed at protecting angling of sea bass in Ireland. Though I'm not sure if it's working. Sea bass commands a good price and go into any restaurant that is offering it and you can be sure that you're going to be paying through the nose for this dish. And with those prices and demand you can be sure that there is some 'direct selling' going on.

Poor man. A sad end for an angler. They say fishing is a pretty good pastime for relieving stress? Maybe if he found sometime to keep up his old hobby he might be still around today? But maybe not. Putting on 3 stone wouldn't have helped. And you can't blame the wife for wanting him to spend more time at home away from work - I'm sure she was just getting at him out of concern for his health. Jake, is it just fishing that 'excites' you in this way? It could have something to do with you dreaming about fishing, which leads on to dreaming about water then p*ssing yourself. I heard recently that Russian scientists (they always are aren't they) have carried out research on Beauty and Drunkenness - that is, the more you drink members of the opposite sex get better looking. This is old news to seasoned drinker and they could have told them that for free! I friend of mine realised this soon after he started his drinking career, and he came up with a technique to combat this. While still relatively sober, he would pick out the least attractive looking woman in the bar room, and when she started getting good looking he would know that he had reached his 'safe' limit. I tried it and it does work!
