  1. Wish my wife would polish my stones every now and again but that would mean I would get to go fishing all the time Keith
  2. Brad, This is hard to answer, rhe only thing I can say is that when you are at your venues have a look at the other lads gear and if you see summat you like just ask if you can have a closer look!!! Buy in haste repent at leisure. Have an idea what you want, have a look and go for it. I now use the Aqua brolly system and well happy with it. After using other bivvys and other shelters it was what I needed for the way I was fishing ie evening sessions and overnighters if the feeling took me. Brolly was used most of the time but if the weather turned foul or I decided to stay the night I only had to walk to the Landy and get the front panels, groundsheet and door. Keith
  3. How's my bite alarm supposed to work on that then? Keith
  4. Singy,It makes no difference which way you have the reel on a rod in a bite alarm, as the weight of the reel will make it hang downwards anyway!. As for the handle, all my baitcasters/multis are left hand wind just like your fixed spools, you just have to buy them that way Have to agree with Poledark though and would prefer to fish the F/Spool at medium to long range and just use the Baitcaster or even the Centerpin at very close range as it's a lot more fun! Been out for years mate, Best use is covering something else ie old plastic pot or belfast sink. One of it's advantages is that it ages very quickly so it will look old within 12 months. Keith
  6. Just try heaving loads of hemp oil in the groundbait, you gotta see the slick that comes off it. you just know where your bait is! Keith
  7. Is that the Ste Brum from the Wirral? Keith

  12. Scopx, It gets up your nose, into your skin, stinks the house out when you make baits but it still catches fish a lot like strawberry. Keith

  16. Wrapping a whole slice of bread around your line has been one of my advantages for the last 7 yrs for taking Carp of the top. Only certain types/brands of bread work ie Warburtons thick sliced being the best as most are too dry or too thin. Not having read the article I can only comment on how I will tackle up. Carp rods are too heavy for this so I will use a Heavy feeder rod with a 2 oz tip on, 10lb Fireline and a size 2 barbless hook. Notice no controller!. Take a slice of bread and take the crust off. Now fold it in half but do NOT flatten it and put the hook in the top inch, with the hook point showing, with the line running the length of the bread. Roll the bread around the hook shank and line and pinch the bread firmly around the hook shank and lightly at the other end to the line. Dip the bread in the water for 1 second and cast out. You should find that the bread will weigh about 2-3oz when wet and will cast a long way hence the need for lightish line and a feeder type rod. I use this method at night when big Tench and Carp are feeding right out and detect bite by holding the line in my fingers. Doon't worry about moving the bait to keep a tight line as the fish do not seem to care in the middle of the night!. Up to now I have had a few good Orfe 6lb 4oz, Chub 5lb and a lot of Tench to 6lb oz8 and Carp to 16lb and 2 Rats ( I kid you not, they fight very well)using this method. What makes it funny I used to be laughed off the lake at first as they all said Mixers worked the best till they heard of my catches! Keith

  20. Could not fault the Aqua,It is the best that I have ever used for my type of fishing. Easy to setup, not too heavy to carry, waterproof and LOADS of room.Never noticed any difference in any bivvy for tempreture but then again I don't go fishing when there is snow and ice .Have a look a the jrc site http://WWW.jrcproducts.com and check out the new prices for the new bedchairs and have a look at the oval brolly. You will be impressed. Keith Check out Wordbenders post on Bivvies at Thorpe Park [ 24. February 2003, 09:17 PM: Message edited by: Keith Finn ]
