  1. 'fraid I'm lumbered with the Christmas shopping Chaufffeur job. Will call into the tackle shop to prepare a list for others to select from whilst the rest are in the shopping precinct. May escape on Sunday to drown the luncheon meat in the local lake if the excavators have gone
  2. Apart from all the good advice so far given, which may be not so easy to remember in the heat of the fight, try to fish within calling distance of another angler if possible. Most anglers will come and give advice as you play a fish, a bit like a driving instructer. Above all enjoy it, and don't get too despondent if at first you lose a few, you won't be the first, and even experts lose a fish now and then. Let us know how you get on
  3. For cheap pellets try the local World of Water, as they have a selection. Normally a 2 for 1 offer, and different colours.
  4. I tried some of the small tripods, but found them to be unstable and prone to falling over very easily. I found a rod pod much the best all round solution
  5. I'm with Elton. I bought a compressor that also does the airbed, kids footballs etc. Just plug and go, save money and energy.

    TV

River monsters tonight at 19:30 ITV
  7. Try the RHS gardens at Wisley in Surrey. It has "proper" carp. I take floating pellets when we go. The kids love it as the carp push the tufties out of the way
  8. The website is not available, so another one bites the dust. Any chance of finding out how to buy the stock
  9. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_west/8690083.stm
  10. Don't forget to let a responsible person know when and where you are going, and when you expect to return. Take a fully charged mobile with you and don't run it down listening to music or radio. If you want entertainment take a seperate device. On the topic of mobiles, don't forget to key in an ICE (in Case of Emergency) entry with your home number. The emergency services will always look for this prior to any other. Apart from that don't forget to enjoy yourself
  11. I use the Prologic ones all the time and have never had any problems with them. I have not tried the cheap Ebay ones as the price difference hardly makes it worthwhile changing
  12. Hows about a camo robot, with polarised vision and a head camera. You send it to the bankside pre-programmed and either control it from the warmth of your front room from a pc, or sit in the car and use a smart phone app. Would it need an EA licence ??
  13. Landing net with built in scales that can blue tooth the weight to the laptop Ledger weights with built in webcams
  14. Such a severe sentence will certainly deter people from trying similar crimes I don't think
  15. I shall have to dig out my old Shakespeare T shirt which reads 'Happiness is a rod in your hand', But not let the Domestic Controller see it
  16. Try this. I went this summer and it was great. www.otterfalls.co.uk. It's near Honiton in South Devon so can be done in 3 hrs if you avoid Stonehenge I wrote a report, so if you search for my name it was in August
  17. Just thought I would drag up an old truism - There are more anglers caught by floats than fish. Nuff said
  18. Casual passers-by who ask if you've 'caught anything', followed by 'do you take them home or throw them back' Fish being referred to as 'Nuisance fish' if they are not the target species. Guesting - equates to illegal fishing, nothing to be proud of especially in public Lead shot - we don't use it any more (do we ??)
  19. There are so many that if everyone replied with their favourite you would be inundated with suggestions. Best bets are to try a friends, or take your rod to a shop and try some out for balance etc
  20. Second Sports Direct. Got a set of £85 trainers for £15. You have to hunt around for the bargain section, and it's a bit pot luck. Get all my lads football footware there too
  21. Looks like the same company in both deals
  22. Pack your wall full of the folding stuff and get along to your nearest large tackle dealer and try them out. Some fit some bums better than others, especially the cushioning. Look out for solid build and ease of operation. Unless you have a trolley or barrow watch out for the weight. It's a big selection, both in quality and price. I was given mine by a neighbour, and it does me. It's a Dragon Carp one, but I haven't destroyed it yet
  23. Just make sure you don't mask the hook and bend, as it doesn't slide up the hook like natural corn. It normally comes with hooking info on the packet
  24. Thanks guys. For the price of £25 I will go for it
  25. Has anyone used one of their CK 9' stalking rods or their rod pods. I am considering buying a 9' carp rod, but don't want to spend the earth, but just need a reliable occasional one
