  2. Last Tuesday night on the way back from London Waterloo to Southampton on the train I got chatting to this lady on the seat opposite. After 20 minutes or so of chit-chat I noticed that she had a bit of a tummy and I just assumed that she was 'with child'. When I asked her when baby was due she explained that she was not expecting a baby at all. I could have curled up and died on the spot. [ 23. September 2004, 02:06 PM: Message edited by: corydoras ]
  3. Tylenol, aspirin and ibuprofen are all potentially fatal to cats
  4. Green or lesser-spotted? If lesser-spotted then best shoot the booger . They are partial to young nestlings if they can get at them.
  5. Three kilos is as big as a goldfish gets.
  6. For the wee burn a wee worm would be ideal.
  7. Hi Rudd. You should have been in Stanmore with me last night. Fireworks and sound effects started at about 15:00 and kept up a good show until about 18:00. Local streets were like rivers. Very impressive display of Mother Nature in a bad mood.
  8. You need a better dealer? Invest in a can of deodorant?
  9. Thanks for that Nugg. This is similar to the law in Scotland then, the main difference being that technically in Scotland even if the line is attached to a rod and reel, if the rod ain't in your sweaty mitt then it is a set line. At least that's is how the law was when I was a kid (30 odd years ago now ) Maybe Andy MacFarlane or one of the other posters from north of the border can confirm if this is still the case.
  10. Candiru for my mean streak. Corydoras for my cute side. [ 04. August 2004, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: corydoras ]
  11. With respect, Andy - that is utter rubbish. A knife is 'a weapon by design', but we have lots of those in our homes don't we? Many more people are killed and injured by knives, so do we ban knives? The vast majority of guns in the UK are for sporting use, either game shooting or targets of some sort. These are simply a means of partaking in a hobby, sport or pastime, just the same as bicycles, golf clubs and cricket bats - all of which have been misused and have caused serious injury and death. Do you really think that those who shoot people would become non-violent if guns were somehow spirited away? Of course they wouldn't - they'd just use something else to attack people. It's cost this country untold millions to ban legally held pistols, money that would have been better spent fighting the real threat to our safety - criminals and the ILLEGAL use of guns. The shooting sports matter greatly to those that take part in them, just as angling does. Beware of sweeping statements, Andy. Your simplistic 'no guns, no shootings' argument could easily be applied to something that matters to you. Got to disagree here mate. A handgun is a tool designed for shooting people. It was never designed for anything else. Sure you can shoot at targets with it, but that is just practising for the real thing.
  12. I'll second that. Demon are top notch, AND you get a fixed IP address from Demon.
  13. Look on the bright side. Hover flies are usefull little critters in the garden, they at all kinds of other pests. I think they are especially fond of aphids and white fly.
  14. I have often wondered about this one with regard to bolt rigs etc. But that is a whole new ball game. Clue me up then please Peter, what is a 'set line' in England? I'm not being funny, I genuinely don't have a clue.
  15. What constitutes a 'set line' in England? In Scotland a fishing rod in a rod rest is technically a 'set line' and you could be prosecuted for using this combination in fresh water.
  16. Q. Why were there 240 pennies in a pre-decimal poulnd Sterling?
  17. Yes but a joey was an old silver 3d, not the bronze one.
  18. In the film 'Ice Cold in Alex' there is a shot of a Series I Land Rover. Land Rovers were not built until after WWII.
  19. I am off to France for 9 days at the weekend. I am going to try the Ouistreham-Caen canal and the estuary of l'Orne. Fingers crossed, I have never tried for mullet there before, but have been told they should be there. [ 01. July 2004, 11:25 AM: Message edited by: corydoras ]
  20. I have never had any problems finding tackle in France. Look for a 'Decathlon' and you should find heaps of reasonably priced tackle. My local Decathlon in Mondeville (Caen) has got MUCH more tackle than Poindestres in Southampton. In fact you could probably put all of Poindestres in one aisle.
