  1. Very true Tony, Den,s were home made I believe and his concept was that they held the up or down slope of the gravel bars and therefore his bait and ground bait presentation stayed in the correct position, if I remember correctly, Den had a catch of around 20 Tench that year with some exciting large fish. The only caveat to that is that Den,s feeders were I think at least 50 grams, they were big beast,s indeed. Richard.
  2. As you know Tony I will be Saturday only, so unfortunately will miss both Sue and yourself, I guess by some of your recent posts both of you have given proper fishing a rest and are now chucking the fluff , now here is an idea set me up if you can(spare kit) with some of that fly kit and we can have a day out the three of us somewhere. If you like the sound of that PM me I am sure you could help me get that fly out into catching land. Richard.
  3. Generally the quoted line strengths are more to do with line diameter than the actual BS, its about the balance of the rod and the ability to be able to cast efficiently. Match rods have much smaller rings than say a leger rod and therefore will not perform has well with larger diameter lines, I have on my match rods used line to BS 10lbs, but the line is a Japanese tournament line and 4.2 Kg BS is only 0.16mm Dia. I hope that makes sense.
  4. Money sent via Paypal with address, many thanks Phil, Richard.
  5. Well until they have finished and are looking to feed again, you can just continue to partake in that wonderful drink so famous of your area.
  6. Hi Phil, What size are the weigh slings. Richard.
  7. A truly wonderful idea and a memorial that will be everlasting, I would definitely attend and I would like to take a photographic account as well that I could then send to Newt, that is if you are in agreement. Richard.
  8. Shimano I think used A7000 for a float rod and without their logo it could be a second sold through a third party outlet.
  9. Well it could be that as you had made a verbal contact the rod was your property, ask him for the crime number as you need it for your insurance company. That may well make him wish he had of had the tackle stolen.
  10. Just thought I would tell you that in the last 10 days two of these lenses Canon fit with APO glass have gone through ebay £269 and £275 so they are there to be had. Good luck and I am sure you will enjoy. Richard.
  11. I owned this lens in Nikon fit a couple of years ago and it was a good lens for it,s price, the reason I sold it was that I just could not use it without a tripod, it is very long and heavy and it will make your 450D look like a postage stamp. Sorry forgot to ask is the APO glass as I think that you should be looking for that it does make a big IQ difference.
  12. How true, how so, so, true
  13. Thinking of you Chris, I hope things improve soon.
  14. Well what a post and the overlying ( use of the opposite ) FAILURE and yes I agree with the use of this word, but when did this begin. 2 May 1997, Hanged , drawn and quartered springs to mind.
  15. Some idiots already pay handsomely for 110 film so stick it on e-bay if you have some. Why would you hope that one day there would be no makers of film left, that to me seems a little selfish as it as no effect on you whether film is still made or not ( in fact maybe it does) as all(most) movies are shot on film and the difference to that shot by digital capture is massive.
  16. Photo Express in Hull turn my 35mm films around in three days at £4.50 each for develop and scan to CD, no prints. Great value and you can still buy Kodak gold in Poundland for, yes you guessed it £1.00
  17. Great time so far and greetings to you all.
  18. There are two types of feeding discussed here, they are in my opinion attractants and ground bait feed, should you only wish to attract the fish into the swim then light cloudy non nutrient feed hand feed and dispersing from the surface is just fine, should you wish to lay a feed for the fish to attract and keep in the swim then a more substantial ingredient will be required. First if you use liquidised white bread a real filler, do not use water the moister in the bread alone will be enough to bind for what is required, also I have found the cheapest supermarket brand to be the best I use Tesco, about 40p per loaf. should you wish to lay some feed on the bottom then use two buckets one for cloud and one for the bed layer. I on the River always use the finest cloud type I can make for upstream distribution and then use the heavier feed and I mean heavy at least 15 minutes to disperse from a cage feeder or equivalent, allowing the flow to distribute on to the bait. In still water for me it is a bit of a reverse in goes the carpet feed and then whether float or Leger fishing, the feeder or hand feed ground bait is just cloudy and light as needed. Top up your carpet layer as you feel the catch is or maybe dropping off. I feel liquidised white bread is the best for carpet feed, if the water has no colour or white may disrupt the environment then I do use brown or a mixture of both, I do add Ground rice sometimes and if fishing for Bream and sugar fix can be good, also for the cloud feed I have found milk powder to work. Hope this helps.
  19. Well if you want to fish two plus rods and have no visual aid other than the line, I would say monkey climbers, old fashioned, but very effective for both pick ups, runs and drop backs and low cost to boot. In fact if you read and research this indicator method and like, let me know and I will send you a set FOC post only. I know they are in the garage somewhere and if I remember I also have the anchor bar to use with Bank sticks.
  20. I am devastated by this news, I was lucky to have met Jan and what a lovely lady Jan was, Jan will always be in my thoughts. My sincere condolences to you Newt.
  21. There may be something that can be salvaged in photoshop, I have CS5 e-mail me a copy of the original file and I will have a go for you, as it is a shot from your phone the one thing that will be against it will be the file size. Richard.
  22. When you say details I guess you mean right click details of Exif data when the photograph is posted. I use Opanda 2.3 with XP and have only experienced problems with the Exif data when the photo is not "save as" in photoshop, other ways of saving can strip out the Exif file or if the photograph is not hosted by a specialist server, I hope that makes sense. What version of Win7 do you have? If you like post a link to a posting and I will have a look. What browser are you using as there are add-on,s that are sometimes required for FireFox, called Exif viewer, also according to Opanda Win7 is not supported, but others seem to have overcome any potenial problems. PS, I can read the Exif files on your last posted photo,s
  23. I used to fish the rife in the Shripney area, most on private land, we had a shoot there as well, this was back in the 70,s and 80,s. the sewerage works area produced some good roach and pot loads of ells for jellying. The best spot for easy access was as the rife crossed Shripney lane running from the Robin Hood pub down to the Royal Oak pub I think it was called.
