    Question:

Was that a reference to your sartorial ellegence Alan ? As in: Look at 'im, 'ees ****-ing well dressed in'ee ?
  2. I agree with Franticfisherman2. If you've got anti's in your garden, boiling water will usually see them off - it's even better if there's soap in it. If that doesn't work, spark up the barbie and chuck on a couple of big blood dripping steaks.
  3. I was shown this in India by a French guy and it's the best method I've see so far. All he did was cut a length of 60lb 7 strand wire and pass it through the lure's towing eye. He then pushes the two ends of the wire down and around the body of the lure and slips both ends through a crimp. A treble is then attached and the tag end of wire pushed back into the crimp and pinched down. The wire can then be trimed and the hook either left to hang well below the lure or knicked into the soft plastic so that it stays in the same place during casting.
  4. I was talking to a South African guy in India who picked up a chunk of the local rough as hell blue washing soap, sniffed it and told be it was the same stuff they used for vundu and sharptooth cats in Africa. Strangest things i've used are some of the naturals, Snails (with shell), blackberries, woodlice erc. They all worked. The one I keep meaning to try is Swann Mussell.
  5. Looks like their luck's in: "The Tsunami Warning Center's instruments detected that there could be small tsunamis with half-meter waves in the areas close to the earthquake, Hirshorn said. "We're not observing much of a tsunami," he said. "Strictly speaking, it's not very devastating." A tsunami advisory was issued for Hawaii, but the warning center said the earthquake, based on historical records, was not sufficient to generate a tsunami damaging to the Pacific coasts of the United States and Canada, and Alaska. Some areas may experience small sea-level changes."
  6. Nah. He's just got 10,000:1 odds on England being knocked out before the quater final. Sounds like a good bet to me.

  10. My last mad blast was a mixture of Verdi and Puccini arias played LOUD. I've also recently aquired a whole bunch of Bach, Haden and Handel which I'm trying to listen to betwen blasts of Audioslave, Megadeath and AC/DC.
  11. If you are just looking for a flight, try "The Flight Centre". We have two branches in Birmingham and they've undercut the best internet prices I could find on both of my last trips. For sea angling information, check ot the international forums on WSF. There are a couple of contributors from that part of the world. Not sure if Peacock Bass are present in the reseviours on Tobago but if you're in the area for any time, lake Guri isn't that far away in Venesuela and is reckoned to have the best Peacock Bass and Payara fishing in the world.
  12. What a pr@t ! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4967592.stm He can't enforce the law that's already in place so he decides to try to divert public attention by drafting even more pointless legislation - which he'll also be unable to enforce.
  13. I can barely believe that there are any natural waterways in the north east of the US that don't have a native population of at least one of the 6 or 7 indiginous species of "pike". In fairness to the article though, they're not suggesting removal of large fish from an already established and balanced population (that's what leads to a jack explosion), they're simply asking anglers to remove any fish that they do catch to slow down the establishment of these fish. Probably futile but as has been suggested, they want to be seen to be doing something, even if it is pointless.
  14. As I understand it, Americans are rather like Great White sharks. They eat anything they damed well please. Remember though, should they start to show signs of dissasociation disorder resulting from their incarceration in the UK, they can be calmed down by taking them for breakfast in McDonalds followed by shopping at the GAP, then lunch at KFC (Sweet at Dunkin doughnuts/Baskin Robins is optional), then onto more shopping at a local "Mall" followed by a slap-up all you can eat special at Pizza Hut. That'll take you through to about 10am, leaving the rest of the day free to enjoy the cultural pleasures of england. Edit: Well everybody else has altered their posts so I thought I'd better change mine as well.
  15. I blame that new guy on the forum....Elmer something.
  16. He wasn't deported because it wasn't safe (for him) to send him back to Somalia !!!!! Edit. Sory buy anyone convicted of a criminal offence whilst a "guest" in this country should go back irrespective of the cosequences.
  17. So Huge. Do you think that the IoW is smaller than it really is or do you think that it should be a bit further away from the mainland as in your drawing ?

If you are a thieving low life scum bag from Kosova who wants to come here and steal and rob you won't have to have one. I'll have you know that not everybody from Kosovo is a thieving lowlife scumbag. Some of them are rapists and muderers as well. Of course, there are also a goodly number who just want a place to live, work and raise a family away from the strife and horror that was the balkans in the 90's. Trouble is, nobody ever sees the folks who keep their heads down and in my area at least, if someone gets attacked, robbed or sexually assaulted, there is a VERY strong probability that the bloke responsible came from either Kosavo or Albainia.
  19. Well, I just had a look at the BNP's maifesto for the council elections and apart from the lousey layout and the inconsistency between suporting right to buy schemes and preventing the sell-off of council assetts, there isn't that much to get upset about. In the intersts of balance, I also had a look at the Searchlight website but apart from a bit of back slapping, they wanted me to pay to read whatever it was that they had to say. It seems that they're only interested in preaching to the faithfull.
  20. The biggest problem with the Greens at local level (this is a council election afterall) is that they are unlikely to be averse to banning angling on municipal waterways.
  21. Nah, but they should think about changing the texture so it stays on the hook better.
  22. If we assume that 1kg of bacteria has a volume of about 3/4 litre, that'd mean that drinking water in the US has 1 part in 500 of suspended poo/bacteria. No wonder the guide books suggest we drink the bottled stuff. Don't you find it a bit cloudy ?
  23. Popped into poundland today and to my horror, they are selling telescopic rods at £1 each, reels with line at £1 each and "fishing tools" kits (including real lead shots) at (you guest it) £1 each. I hope that the EA have got plenty of new bailifs lined up.
  24. I would supspect that he is a "normal" working bloke and that until his little triade, you had no idea that he was thinking that way. So the questions is why does he feel so disaffected that he feels the need to focus his frustrations on specific groups of people ?

    ID cards

Yes they have and as Phill's document doesn't quote specifics or sources, it just sounds like so much scaremongering BS to me. Two things to consider: 1. If Big Brother were really out to watch everyone all the time, it would be relativly simple to introduce ID cards with RF ID tags built into them and build a network of recievers so that they could tell where everyone in the country is at any given point in time. 2. If you are a terrorist or a mass murderer, it is already perfectly possible for the security services to trace all of your credit card transactions, the location of your mobile phone (with a full history of where you were at any point in time that the thing was switched on), your social security records and (if they happen to know that you claimed Nectar points when you purchaced you chainsaw) full details of your supermarket purchaces. The fact is that unless you are a bad person, they're not prepared to spend time and money worrying about you.
