  1. Something like this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153026228978 But as previously said they are grossly overpriced, mine cost a fraction of that, but I've had them ages.
  2. I think it was invisible, he might have been a spy
  3. You can attach a back lead after casting out and setting up your rod(s). Just pull a little slack from the tip, clip on and drop into the water below the tip. Tighten up, or slack line as you would normally. The line is kept down and in theory liners are eliminated. They can also help by keeping your line down on your 2nd or 3rd rod when playing another fish close in. On the strike they run down the line joining your other lead. They are safe as the loop to attach them is normally around thumb nail size. The weight is normally irrelevant unless you're fishing running water and they are in the current. They only need to be heavy enough to comfortably sink the line and not move.
  4. Reminds me of when I saw a guy using a camouflage pen to write on white paper
  5. On no, a giant green worm is attacking the UK
  6. I'm in Sheffield on the edge of Derbyshire and it's torrential here. Been shooting this morning and had to strip off my big wax jacket and shoot in a shirt and wax waistcoat due to the heat! Soaked to the skin except where my waiscoat touches. Looked at the river on the way back, it's 18" up and in flood. Local reservoir Dam Flask full and over the overflow. Shame it's so bad as it fishes so well for Pike when it's full. Trouble is my old bones can't take the damp for long anymore.
  7. Funnily enough I thought I remembered my Grandad telling me about drying line but also thought I might have imagined it. I also remember him using early pva in the 60s on the Trent at Kelham, only thing was he called them paper bags and used a stone to sink them.
  8. Pity the Queen can't rule, I reckon she would take no **** from anyone and soon put the house in order. Either that or chop off some heads.
  9. Recently fishing a small private water where all braid is banned, also bolt rigs are banned and barbed hooks. I was float fishing, I foul hooked a carp around 6 - 7lbs. I played it to the net and saw it had a huge hook embedded inside its bottom lip. Last time I saw a hook so big I think it was berthing the QE2. Attached to that a 5" length of braid and a bolt rig with a battered 4oz lead, attached to that a length of braid which two of us began to pull in. A rod and reel and maybe 20lbs of weed, sludge and muck attached to that. Reel firmly locked in place, no bait runner or anything engaged. The waters owner said he had a good idea of its owner and would deal with it. Klinik applied the carp was released and will hopefully live on. The question I had was why? When everything used was banned and the biggest fish I have seen is 18lbs although the lake does contain low 20s. I have nothing against braid, but know nowhere that I fish that allows it. Even braided hook lengths are banned on most of the venues I use. I can't get my head around fishing something like 24lbs or more breaking strain for fish that on average run 6 - 8 lbs. From what I've seen its twice the price of mono. I'd like to try it to say I either do or don't like it, but can't think of a circumstance to use it. I usually fish the rivers in the broads once or twice a year but don't think strength is warranted.
  10. I'm afraid I know little about solar, other than having the panel facing the sun. The panel was given to me to keep my old Land Rover batteries topped up in the garages as I cant drive more than one vehicle at once and at one time had five. Now it's in the caravan window and keeps the liesure battery about 80% charged, it normally shows 12.5 or 12.6 on the volt meter. The panel is about 18" tall, 8" wide as a rough guess.
  11. That's a lot of pennies for a charger. Don't think I could justify the price for mine as replacements are a fraction of the price. On the caravan I keep a small solar charger plugged in which keeps it topped up. I too drive a Volvo, it's a 16 plate XC70 and the battery light comes on regular as since I retired I only do short journeys. I've had it from new and Volvo assure me it's 'normal' due to all the electronics on it. If I drive it for more than 2 miles it goes out.
  12. I voted leave, it said leave. Not leave with negotiations. Not leave in several years. Not moan about it. LEAVE. I suppose we'll have to keep voting till the government get what they want. That's the problem with giving us working men the vote, no matter who you vote for the government always win. Incidentally, where I live and worked (retired now) I know absolutely no working man that voted remain.
  13. Just wondering if you sorted this, as my wife has two mobility scooters and an electric wheelchair, all are 24v in 2 x 12v batteries. Each item has different size batteries from the next but if you're not using them for long or going far, any combination of a pair of 12v's will work. When ours are starting to wear down and require replacing I charge each battery separate with a 12v car charger and this "seems" to prolong the replacement about another 12 months. I use Ebay for replacements, my last pair around Feb 18 cost £34.75 and are brilliant. Just make sure like a car that the terminals are clean and tight and all wiring in good condition. Incidentally, the old batteries which are no longer powerful enough for travel get charged periodically and used for 12v power, lighting, phone charging etc, on my daughters allotment. They are light enough to be comfortably carried in one hand. Might be an idea for the bivi boys as second hand scooter batteries are generally given away as it's too much fuss to recycle.
  14. I use mine on a little local stream that's very overgrown to catch trout to use as dead baits. I also let the grandkids use it as it's so simple and it gets them interested. It always attracts interest from other anglers, especially those with youngsters.

  16. https://ibb.co/LZKDQ8M I bought one of these for £4.95 from Ebay including free delivery. Bought it partly as a joke, but found it to be a terrific little rod used correctly. Out it comes everytime someone is showboating expensive new tackle and then I catch using it and point out it's not the tackle but how you present your bait.
  17. You could try Wagtail Country park at Grantham, not to be confused with Wagtail fishery next door. They have lodges with verandas over the lake. Or my favourite, Walnut Lakes at the junction of A17/A16 half way between Boston and Spalding. Currently only one lodge with a ramp but you can access the lakes easily, all flat and very underfished. No idea of prices as I use a caravan.
  18. Thanks, I hope I've got the river sorted as I've booked a boat Fri/Sat from Wroxham so can go more or less where I want. I've fished both Roughton and Gimmingham before but over 10 years ago when my son was a young lad I had a walk round both t'other day but no one was very talkative, so I figured I might get better info on here
  19. I'm on holiday in rainy Norfolk staying near Thorpe Market and fancied a day at either Gimmingham or Roughton, any body any tips on which would be better and which baits are working. I've two rods with me one match and one carp. Just looking for an easy day.
  20. Sorry Steve, it looks like a lot of hard work for you. Plus the re registering on another site, clicking to view etc. I'm not taking many pictures at the moment as my eye sight is bad and I'm waiting for another op so I'll give it a miss and see how things work out in a few months with it. Hope it works for you, good luck with it.
  21. One of my favourite places along with Derwent. I'm only a few minutes drive from there. I have hundreds of pictures of my kids growing up in that area, sunsets, landscapes and so on. We often used to eat at the Yorkshire bridge too. The whole area is one of favorite places in the world.
