Here is a couple of pictures I took at different times earlier in the season at a local lake. There is always a pair on this lake but unfortunately the previous year, the cob got killed by a fox. This time everything turned out well apart from the fact that it used to cost me in sweetcorn, maggots and bread every time I packed up :D The old cob used to spend most of the day guarding his territory and chasing the Canadas but was always partial to a maggot/corn cocktail.

Set myself a target to get a twenty while pike fishing, and was hoping to make it before the end of the year. Had the lake to myself most of last week and also this week (where are all the diehard carpers? ) Not another soul around, so set up the video and just let it run.

Now I want the one I caught on maggots last summer....should be about 25 by now :)

Happy Christmas every body :)

Yup.....and they don't seem to have evolved much either....!!!

Jan V, NurseJudy.....help!!!! I'm digging myself a huge hole here....

Janet

PS. Cracking pictures of Arnie. We have a lone female swan nearby who lost her mate recently due to thugs with no brain and an air rifle. It's a sad sight to see one of these beautiful creatures pining. Is it really true that they mate for life, or does she have some hope of finding another partner?

Janet...when in a hole, KEEP digging! You will come out the otherside. Hence the Antipodes!

On a serious point, the very fact that the swan approached Den so closely indicates the level of care fot the wildlife shown by the anglers where Den was fishing. A point the anti's will conveniently overlook, no doubt.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine
