The problem I have is telling the diferance between a shopping bag and a decent thornie, I imagine that those massive common skate are like hooking a wet matress in the tide.

Leon, are you quitting mullet and becoming an trolly specialist?

The best I had was fishing the Oxford canal on a 3m whip, size 22 hook, single pinkie, lovely bite and after a heavy but pretty un-spirited fight, soon had a lovely 6lb pair of jogging bottoms in the net.

A FEW YEARS AGO A LORRY LOADED WITH PLAIN GREEN CARRIER BAGS OVERTURNED INTO THE RIVER AT TEVIOTHEAD, WE WERE CATCHING THEM FOR YEARS IN THE RIVER TEVIOT, A TRULY HEART STOPPING EXPERIENCE ON A FLY ROD.

BUZZERBERN - welcome to the forum.

If you would use both upper and lower case letters your posts would be much easier to read and especially for us older folks. The ALL CAPS is really difficult.

Also a mention that in email and on forums, ALL CAPS is considered the same as shouting in spoken conversation.

I managed to hook my anchor on a Tope trip in Wales, Simon Everett managed to get a few shots of the 5 minute battle, bloody thing kept taking line and put a beautiful bend in my rod. Weighed about 1.5kg when I managed to net it.

has anyone got a harrods bag yet?surely that is the creme da la creme of the bag world.

republic of ireland have banned the use of plastic bags could this explain the sudden increase of plastic in british waters.could this be the future of sea fishing as we know it as stocks of fish are depleted more plastic bags are dispersed to replace them.

The salary of the chief executive of a large corporation is not a market award for achievement. It is frequently in the nature of a warm personal gesture by the individual to himself.

er guys,

Be careful what you mention on here.

The Scottish commercial fishing fleet is already trawling for plastic bags and such (and making good money from it too!)

see Trawling for Litter

So it's unlikely that the stocks of plastic bags are going to last much longer.

(Another 'recreational species' hammered by the trawlers! :( )

Be especially careful of naming, or giving clues of any marks that you are fishing, otherwise it won't be long before the trawlers and netters move in and ruin it for you :(

ps Elton/Newt can you bar Wurzel from reading this thread? We really don't want him getting any ideas
