I've not seen a single second of his second series. I feel cleansed.

I tend to watch it on a Tuesday night now.

That stingray was a monster!

He's doing a bit less 'whooping' and 'hollering' now, than he did in the last series, and it's better for it.

All that "Ooo come on baby", and exaggerated movements of the rod, is what Nick Hancock rightly calls "Fish Porn".

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

  • 2 weeks later...

There were a few back to back episodes on (Fiver?) last night. Better than watching soaps! but still people moan!

Poach, what would you like to see in an angling tv show? or do you simply feel its not something that can ever come across well?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

That's one of the problems Budgie, people keep seeing it as an angling programme.

The big clue was in the title, Extreme Fishing', which covers any method of catching fish, hence the trawling, crabbing, bow fishing etc, as well as angling.

I noticed that in the second series he made a point of saying, that it was mainly for food or sale that the locals caught fish, not just for the sport.

Most definately John. Entertainment with a fishing theme. And as such I find it exactly that ie entertaining.

Its just that Im interested in hearing what people would like to see.I ask this as Im pretty sure I all ready know the answers!

You make that sound like I dislike all TV angling shows.

I didn't like Extreme Fishing, Rex Hunt, Trout 'N' About or Hooked On Scotland but I liked John Wilson's shows, Jungle Hooks, Carp Crew (yes I can appreciate a carp show), a lot of Matt Hayes's and Brownies programmes, Passion For Angling, Predators, the Accidental Angler and probably more I can't recall off the top of my head.

I'll give anything a bash, even if it has nothing to do with any part of angling I partake in. What makes a good show...hmm...I'm not sure but I thought Rex hunt was as bad as it got until Robson Green came along. Both demonstrated bad fishing techniques and the presenters were just as annoying.

I'll try anything.

Last nights was the last in the series and I actually really enjoyed it

Missed the stingray so was cool to see that and the format was better with less of the twit moaning away and more fishing as he counted down his top 10 fish of the series.

Wasn't surprised to see the blue marlin at the top as that really is the holy grail of sport fishing, was happy to see them releasign it too to fight another day.

What strikes me about the whole programme is others/guides doing all the hard work in locating the fish, baiting up etc only to have to hand the rod over to him....gutted!
