Sir Newt of Americashire has suggested a way that, maybe, we can give this forum the kickstart it needs.

Instead of Session Carp Fishing, how about renaming it to Carp & Catfish Fishing? Or any other suggestions.....?

Why not just call it 'The specimen angling forum' I know it's not very imaginative but it then covers catching all big fish, not just carp and cats. Also I hate this mini rivalry that has kicked in over the years ie; Carpers calling match anglers bitbashers, noddy's etc and vise versa, sureley we are all anglers and doesnt matter what we fish for or how? My own personal take on it is a true angler is an angler who can enjoy catching all fishies 0f all sizes and any species ... or is that just me?

Well said Twochay, i just put a post on here under the 'Three Rods' thread saying exactly that. I usually set up my carp rods and then my match rod and float fish away for roach, etc. Fishing is fishing and I'm happy catching anything, not bothered by what it is or how big it is.

absoloutley, dont get me wrong i do my week long sessions for carp and cats but i also fish the wensum for Roach. I may then decide to go and have a day beach fishing ... it doesnt matter as long as the surroundings are nice and i am not at work!

I think the carp anglers get more stick from the matchmen to be honest so I lower myself at times to their level (when in rome) nothing personal toward genuine matchmen, but I feel the specimen anglers are becoming more and more segregated from other anglers. Dont find too many mixed angling lakes nowadays, and the rivalry will allways be there unfortunate as it may be. But there are more Carp orientated lakes now than ever before and its growing.
