So we are going to have a referendum.

Having sat today trying to read the draft EU constitution, I just found the following summary on the BBC.

It does paraphrase what I have read and does put things into perspective.

See what you think. EU Constitution

imall for an open debate although the right wing newspapers will try to dominate proceedings . politically it will be a very interesting eighteen months

The salary of the chief executive of a large corporation is not a market award for achievement. It is frequently in the nature of a warm personal gesture by the individual to himself.

it really doesn't matter. The Brits will vote against in amazingly large numbers - over half the population don't even understand the question and don't have enough brain to even read anything about it.

Typical of these is "Norfolk Man" who is slow, knuckle-dragging, semi-literate and can barely count and who STILL believes that if we join the Euro that he has one pound today and seventy pence tomorrow. When you considerate that these harmless clowns are more intelligent than some other folks then the mind boggles - the good thing is that they vote with an X which is how they sign their name

DOH!

How can folks who do not know what a constitution is then be asked to vote on the adoption of one?

theres much talk of our last referendum (1975)? regarding staying in the common market ,it went through because the question was about something the voters understood .Unfortunatly its no longer a common market but a superstate covering europe and the last time THAT happened was in WW2 and instead of us deciding WE wanted to join them THEY decided we WOULD!

i suspect knowing Blair and his cronies there is a darker side to his sudden eagerness to please the population ,i suspect that within the new rules britain will lose the right to tax as they wish we give more tax to europe directly = less for the UK = less perks for the ministers and MP`s ,more questions over underfunding, his ploy is to "Let Us Decide" and reject europe ,the ruling party can then tax us EVEN MORE and when questioned the answer may be "well you voted for it"

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

I have one question, which is being repeatedly being ignored!

If one of the , shall we say, less stable states let its economy overheat and needs to devalue its currency, WHAT HAPPENS THEN? If we agree to this charter, we all have the same currency. It's funny but if I ask this question, the pro-Euro people change the subject.

I`m just wondering what all the fuss is about?

Us plebs have always been ruled by one master or another. It`s only the folk that will lose some power that are making all the fuss?

We don`t use J`s anymore!!

In that case, how could the devalue 'their currency' since they won't have one of their own to manipulate?

I've just finished reading thru the BBC evaluation of the new constitution proposal. Very similar to the way things are structured in the US with Federal and State governments. While you may think that is a bad thing or a good thing, at least it is a thing that works.
