This is just what I was thinking but didnt have the bottle to post it for fear of ridicule. Religion is rammed down peoples throats in some areas of the world and then we look surprised when someone takes it all literally and really does put their faith in some supreme being.

Why shouldnt the bloke believe God will save his daughter, after all the then Pres stood on national tele and asked God to help him win the Irag war.........come to think of it tough, I don't think God had his hearing aid turned up that day either!

I can only suppose Dale Neumann's situation was the irony of a religious fundamentalist employing a live-and-let-die mentality.

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Are you saying that tongue in cheek? There's fahsands of 'em - look in any dictionary/encyclopaedia of mythology...

Mind you, I suppose there'll always be somebody prepared to argue that they're all really manifestations of the One True God.

not tongue in cheek ,just wondering if a christian god cannot exist another can based on the same lack of evidence.

muslims say there is only one god but allah (the word) seems to come from a jewish word ,if "god" as christians know it cannot exist then neither (as their all the same one ) can the other two exist either.

so now the 3 biggest religions are godless who's next?

It's true there are. Some of them exist in a purley symbolic form. For example the pagan goddess figure, who is often depicted as a human female is understood to be a represention of all of earthly creation, the very real, plants and animals which give us life, (and joy)and do indeed exist. She is understood to be a symbol and is not expected to be encountered in (that) human form. In contrast the Abramic religions promote 'god' as an invisible magic man who speaks human langusge(s) and they insist that we accept 'him' and his words literally. .

The significant difference are the variables of symbolic understanding and literal belief.

And then of course you've got all the classical stuff about gods assuming animal form in order to ravish human females. "Honestly, officer, I thought that bull I was enjoying congress with was Zeus..."

Which I would place as unlikely as the christian/ middle eastern wizard.
