I have been watching the start of our innings at the Oval and I have to wonder why the gas works is still there? It isn't used and it must be on prime land so why is it still there? Any ideas?

 

 

Ask Transco, it was scheduled for demolition as far back as 1999.

 

The giant storage tank that abuts the Oval cricket pitch in south London has become an international sporting landmark.

 

Surprisingly, it is not covered by a preservation order and Transco says it too will eventually be dismantled.
