I'm back. Less one kidney, plus 38 staples holding me together. I got into hospital on friday morning, not thursday night as was scheduled. A woman was admitted as an emergency on my slot, I followed her. I was under for 4 1/2 hours and when I woke up she was in the bed opposite on the critical care unit. She had a cardiac arrest and is still in an isolation ward, I'm at home. When I was diagnosed the consultant told me "You have an 11cm tumour on your left kidney and it has to come out. Are you fit"?

I now fully understand the need for it. They all told me at each stage of my recovery how remarkably well I was doing, it didn't feel like it to me, I've never felt as distressed in my life

They seem confident about the work they've done, it's just I will be of work 3 months recovering.

Thank's for the support, it was very welcome.

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow - creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

Good news John, didnt get a chance to wish you good luck but will do now for a speedy recovery! I'm told having a kidney out is rough at the best of times, so do what the doc says and I'm sure you'll be back with a rod in your hand in no time! :)

Take care

Dan
