Alan Roe's your man - though you might need to cross the Pennines to visit him!

I assume you've seen this:

Indeed, Alan Roe is THE man to contact!

There's a video of him demonstrating the Wallis cast on You Tube somewhere...

I've watched him in action at the PAAS open days a few times, and the way he teaches the technique to beginners is awesome!

It would be well worth you planning a trip over here to God's own country....

When you've reached 15 posts, you'll be able to use PM and can ask him directly.

Having looked at these two links Chris has put forward I've managed to get wallis casting with out any other help. The links are great and its really not that hard if you give it a go.

The bit that worries me is getting the hook stuck in my hand whilst flicking out the float. I can imagine few band aids being used before I got the timimg right.

Timsbury's not far off, I'm sure they'll be a few tutors there.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

I probably shouldn't tell you my bad/lazy habits before you've learnt the proper way, but if I'm stood in the river trotting and only ( as in most of the time) want to cast a couple of rod of rod lengths, i don't hold my rig at all. I just side cast as i would with any reel. Not that i think you are in any danger of getting hooked if you do it the proper way, I'm just lazy.
