Other than staying off the sauce, none that I know off. :D

Will ask a couple of Ayurvedic boffins just in case.

TC is an abreviation for Test Curve. This term is explained here-

BS is the abreviation for Breaking Strain.

A 4lb TC rod is a lot lighter than an Uptide rod and has a much better action for playing fish quickly.

The 25lb Mono line was chosen much for its greater abrassion resistance than anything else.Considering we are targetting fish of an average of 120 up to 200lb+ I think its quite light compared to what sea anglers for instance use!

Wouldnt use braid as low as that due to its poorer abrassion resistance.I choose braid by diameter rather than breaking strain, see here-

For your fishing for species other than Masheer then obviously lighter tackle would be better. As Ive no experience of these fish or the conditions you find them in I would only be guessing if I suggested tackle!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Rustam, I can't help with this question as it's outside my experience. However welcome to the forum! :)

I was going to answer your query re test curves etc. but Budgie has answered all of the points you raised; exept that regarding the use of the Exage trolling rod from the bank. The Exage trolling rod is designed as an out and out boat rod, with no thought to casting whatsoever; it has heavy duty rings heavy butt section and is only suitable for lowering baits out of the back of a boat.

The up-tiders and heavy duty spinning or specimen rods, mentioned in these threads are much better for casting from the shore or from a boat.

As for the gout; you will be pleased to know I am completely off the sauce and am only drinking sour cherry juice, which is supposed to ease the complaint.

So, Dear Rusters has finally made it all the way from India to AnglersNet. Thank you all for giving my shy little friend such a warm welcome.

Due to an accident of birth, Rustam is condemned to support his national cricketing team, although I believe he's soon to defect to our own glorious assembly of leather and willow superstars.

He's an architect - specialising in bog windows :D - and remains the most jovial and good-natured of fellows, despite the many tragedies heaped upon him by the Indian cricket team.

Thanks again for making the old boy so welcome.

And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.

Budgie and Tony, thanks once again for the replies. Is there a good website with a fishing related glossary? It would save you chaps having to explain every little detail.

Steve, thanks for the welcome. :)

As for you, O Bent One, I was hoping to keep cricket off the agenda but since you are a glutton for punishment, amongst many other things :P , I shall sit back and savour the thrashing your chaps are about to receive. :D

Rustam

P.S.: Have you fitted those steam and massage jets to your portable shower yet? Peter Waller, kindly take note. :D

Ummmmmm, well, yes, I did wonder, wise and honourable Mr Bender Sir. Here in sunny Suffolk we have fair, and sometimes dusky, young maidens for such a menial, yet pleasurable job.

Re Bog windows, Rustam & myself have much in common there. I am specialising in French casements in case sudden, mass evacuation is called for.

Rustam and myself could perhaps work together to improve the facilities of your aged, horse drawn bivvy :D:D
