How many hats do you have?

Some are actual fishing hats like the rather expensive Simms sombrero I'm wearing here which is very good when it's really sunny, but is also showerproof. It's unfortunately white with black under the rim, so not always good for stalking the banks of the Kennet, but then I've got plenty more choice.

I've also got flat tweed, flat waxed, deerstalker, camo cotton boonie hat, cotton bush hat in stone, cotton bucket hat in green, and cotton bush hat in green. Not to mention microfleece beanies, woolie beanies etc.

I don't have a favourite, but the Simms sombrero (probably coz the missus bought it for me), camo boonie and green cotton bush hat tend to get worn the most. I know Chris Plumb has a clear favourite - the green wobbly wide brimmed hat as he's always wearing it.

What do you wear? I see a lot of peaked caps on the bank, but they are not normally my thing.

A quick head count, tells me I have eight, from a rather nice Tilley, a cheaper but similar hat, a basic cheap floppy, three ratting caps, two woolly jobs and a fleece one.

Lightweight Tilley for summer, the flat caps for normal weather conditions and the woolly or fleece jobs for winter. Pretty straightforward really.

Baseball caps or beanies for me, or a german tank hat when things go propper sub zero :)

I did think about getting one of those barbour wax proof wide'ish brim jobs but got my senses back when I looked at one ! I'm no fashion guru but I draw the line at one of those floppy wide brimmed monstrosities.

I mostly just wear my hair no i've let it grow B)

Only one hat here, this one;

I looked less of an idiot in this than I did the floppy variety, I'm one of those people who look daft in any kind of hat. It keeps my head warm due to the gap between head & hat and stops the rain getting on to my glasses. It does have one flaw, water collect in the top so if I need to tie a hook in the rain I get a small waterfall first. I have to remember to tip my head to empty the hat and then tie the hook :D .

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Tilley hat for boating and fishing...absolutely brilliant! Sun/rain/windproof and comfortable. Not the cheapest, but certainly the best I've found. More or less indestructible!

Knitted woolly and/or fleece hats for winter and cold.

I look a right pillock in any of them, as I don't suit hats!

just one with velcro under the peak to attach those pound shop LED hat lamps ,the clips break so just stick velcro on it and sew a bit under the peak to stick it to.

Strange, my missus says that as well. Surely all women look great in hats? Well, providing it's not a big wicker sombrero or something.
