mr crabtree goes fishing

The main thing about these books are the idyllic lakes and rivers that Crabtree has at his disposal. Now the EA have wrecked virtually all running water, I wonder what Crabtree would say to Peter ? Instead of "lets go to that deep Perchy looking hole on the river we know" it would be "lets go to that narrow straight shallow excuse for a river that flows in a perfectly straight line for 10 miles"

Bernard died in April 2001 and was buried on 1st May, Hundreds attended his funeral - tributes came from far and wide.

(He was one of the first 'residents' in my burial ground)

I will post a piccy (when I find it) of the 'headstone' a sculptor he knew made for his grave - a large slate 'rock' protruding from the earth - looks like it's been there a thousand years!

A few drawings in the same format as Crabtree, Mr Cherry & Jim, click on the link for pictures I think Bernard Venables may have been responsible for the characters. www.traditional-angling.co.uk/image...cards/card2.htm

Peter Waller:

Mr Crabtree was not fictional charecter Newt, you can probably get it from Amazon US, save having to cart it back from England.

Peter - I checked and I think waiting will be my best idea.

If anyone knows exactly where he is buried, please let us all know.

If I am ever nearby, I will make a detour and put a flower on his grave. A great man and an inspiration for generations.

Maybe a search back in the AN archives will help, I am sure there was a lot of posting when he died, and a link to his obituary.
