The Competition

---------------

Christmas is fast approaching and you're in charge of creating the new Anglers' Net Christmas Card. You've managed to get a great picture of Santa fishing from a snow covered bank for the cover, so now you just need the little rhyhme for the centre (center for our US visitors ). What's the best fishing related rhyme that you can come up with...

There once was an old man from Lapland

Sat with his rod in his hand

Rudolf played with his flies

And Blitzen exagerated his size

And the elves said your tackle is grand

A short time ago, in angling times

a young man got to thinking

i will create an angling site

for folks to come and meet in.

so Elton got his three wise men

Ian, Roe and gaffer

later came a new man john s,

because he was so dapper.

Ians time was short with Elton

but he did say a nice goodbye

a night time man was needed

and Newton was that guy.

about this time things got bad

people out of order

so Elton in his wisdom

bore himself a daughter

non fishing chat was its name

it was to be the new mesiah

a place to go when you need to throw

your dummie in the fire.

fisherking, randles, and the pole

have a little message

a happy christmass to you all

and dont forget the missus.
