DelJ:

It's great that you can buy your licences on line and do not have to queue at the post office.

However surly the people who need this service most are the elderly and the disabled. Guess who can't buy on line            :(

Sorry Del but I am able to buy my licence online and I am disabled?? How did you arrive at this??

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Well, I formed a queue in my local post office 'cos I take seriously the threat of closure. :(

To be precise a queue formed behind me 'cos there was only one counter open and I got new licences for my father, son and myself, oh! and renewed my car tax at the same time. :D

Made my wife queue behind me too for her stamps etc...

Quite busy it was in there after 20 minutes.. :D

Our perception of time as an orderly sequence of regular ticks and tocks has no relevance here in the alternative dimension that is fishing....... C.Yates

Chris, on the E A site it says what licences you can buy on line and what other licences you can get. The ones for the disabled and "old codgers" like me are in the latter list.

However I am pleased you managed to get yours on line. Me I went to the P.O. Maybe things will be better sorted in time for next year's.

Sarah 'the jammy one' and I registered to pay by direct debit and recieved our licences three days ago. The statement I made earlier about a discount by purchasing direct was meant as an offset paid to the Post Office by way of commission paid to them. I dont know what it is, 10% or 20%, whatever as I am not bothered. However it sure beats standing in line at the Post Office, all those scroungers waiting to cash there Giros before going off to work! And thats from someone who lives in a very small rural community. God knows what it must be like in the larger towns and cities.

Unless I have misunderstood, I was able to order my license online, to be paid for by DD. I am OAP and had no problem, and I only paid £11.00, Yippee!

My Village does not have a Post Office so I do not feel I have let anyone down.

We DO have a village post-office and I want to do my bit to ensure we don't lose it.

Yesterday I bought my two licences, paid water, electricity and sewage bills, bought a few stamps and sent a parcel to Australia. Total time, about ten minutes.

Paying bills at my local bank takes twice as long - and trying to send a parcel overseas from the main post-office in Crowborough is a morning's work!

Re Baconbutty's apparent change of sex - could be awkward if an over-officious bailiff spots that item on the licence. Getting your licence at the post-office means you can check that the clerk has filled it in correctly on the spot.

Have tried and tried and tried and tried, bl@@dy thing keeps blowing out when I submit credit card details. Message says something like insufficient license details, no money taken from card in big red letters. I've checked and double checked all my info and cannot see where I'm going wrong. I've managed for the last 2 seasons to order on line so it's not "Noddy Novice" syndrome. Has anyone else had problems?

Can't even find a telephone number to ring, can anyone help out there?

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.
