Oh, you mean a tent!

A bivouac in Scouting terms means a shelter made from materials found in the local area, rather than taken with you.

In crude terms - it's an ad hoc shelter rather than something 'tailored', like a tent.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

"Shortened from Bivouac, which implies a more temporary stay than a tent".

Bloody 'ell, old Lord Baden Powell spent less time in a tent than some of the bivvy boy's do in their bivvies; or should that be 'bovver boy's?

I understand where Peter is coming from. :)

Except how many people take their tent to the pitching site in a wheelbarrow?

And don't tent people have suitable furniture as standard rather than

Guest chairs, guest beds, guest radios etc. :D
