Life for a life ?

A few examples:

Taxation from wages of those involved in enforcement.

Last time I checked, coppers wages came from the public purse so encouraging crime so that you can get back roughly one third of what you are paying out would be rather idiotic.

Benefits for the Manufacturers of Cuffs, Truncheons, notebooks, helmets, vehicles, Boots, Shirts, Radios.. etc etc.....

I take it you mean the largely foreign "Manufacturers of Cuffs, Truncheons, notebooks, helmets, vehicles, Boots, Shirts, Radios.. etc etc....." because I rather suspect that most if not all police authorities will purchace from the lowest priced provider. Where's the incentive to encourage crime there ?

Can you honestly see a High Court Judge stacking shelves at Morrisons.

No but as the judiciary are largely independent of the government of the day, I don't see the connection between this question and the idea that government encourage crime.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to get then doing some sort of menial work once in a while though to put them in touch with the people that their judgements affect.

Come on surely you are not so blinkered?

I'm blinkered ?

Tell me that I am wrong and then tell me where you will employ all those who lose their jobs if crime was reduced to 0%.

You are wrong - and your follow up question is both stupid and pointless when not a single society anywhere on the planet or at any time in human history has ever had zero crime. You might as well ask "What would all the coppers do if aliens turned all the crimials into lollypops?"

Stab vests, or certainly the fabric for them comes from a specialist fabric industry and research place near Alcoy (Spain), not that far from me.

Police issue cuffs used to be made by Hiatts I believe who were British until they upped sticks and moved the business to the states and became part of Safariland.

i read somewhere it was illegal for our handcuff makers to sell (under our laws) "handcuffs" with chains (in reality with the longer chains leg irons) so we sold the "hand" bits with separate long chains to america ,i presume that loophole was closed so the company moved to america to supply them without problems.as far as i presume a law here in force routed in the past with slavery overtones but common practice to use leg restraints on US prisoners

i think we sell a good quantity of "cattle" prod type high voltage sticks favoured by torturers world wide ,well if the loopholes haven't been closed :D
