norfolk broads

me and a few friends are thinking of going piking in the broads and would liek to know if there are any campsites near to any good pike areas.

No! Awful pike fishing up here and the campsites are like open sewers!

 

Joking apart you are asking for classified information and I genuinly don't know of a campsite near any good piking, plus you really will need a boat.

Anywhere in Norfolk where there's water will probably put you in with a chance of pike. There are campsites all over Norfolk. I'd start with a copy of John Wilsons excellent book on Fishing in Norfolk and Suffolk (including advice on hiring boats). Find somewhere that you like the sound of and then check out http://www.google.com for 'campsites Norfolk' Loads of places to choose from. Nowhere in Broadland is too far from anywhere else.The Trinity Broads are a good place to hire boats,probably find a campsite along the coast not too far away. im with peter on this having lived in norfolk, to get good pike you need a boat, some good bank places are a place called horning, but i dont know of any campsites near there.

to stand any chance of pike you will need to fish after sunset once all the hirecraft have stopped, and you will need to ask lots of questions at lots of tackle shops up there to be able to get some idea of where to go

As previously suggested a boat is a must on the broads.

 

Rikster is also right when mentioning hirecraft, they can be a pain in the arse to an angler, but then as a regular cruiser user myself maybe i shouldn't complain .

 

Why not hire a cruiser, its like camping but you can move from place to place, and come late in the season, say the end of september or the begining of october, this is when i go and its surprising how many holiday makers ignore the broads when it gets a bit nippy cheaper too

for the cost of hiring a cruiser for a week on the broads might as well goto spain for a week and get a suntan, also even with a cruiser you are still limited for pike fishing, the best thing would be a small dinghy a electric outboard and a local for knowing where to go.

Not at all, whenever you moor just chuck the dead baits out, just make sure you get a dinghy with the cruiser, drop mudweights in the middle of a broad and float around spinning for a few hours....Heaven

There is a decent campsite behind a pub called the Duke of Edinburgh in Bacton.

Close by (10 minute drive) is a place called Gimingham with 3 lakes.

i have lived in norfolk all my life, the best places for Pike are, Wroxham broad, Eels foot, Rollesbry broad and as someone mentioned horning. You can hire boats out at the Eels foot and there is an excellent pub there, ihad pike up to 30lb there
