Guess the weight

Anderoo

Recommended Posts

I'm going back to 2.15lb, I think the smile show's Anderoo has caught something special and as I know he has caught plenty of big Perch then I think it might be a smile of amusement that he has been denied another notch in his 3lb plus list of Perch :D

It came right in the brightest and warmest part of the day. The perch here seem to be catchable all day long, unlike the smaller river perch, which only really feed at dawn and dusk in normal conditions. It was from deep water though - 13ft straight off the rod tip, and tight to the marginal vegetation.

The perch in the small rivers in my area feed best in bright sunshine :)

We have a draw :)

The perch weighed 2lb 10oz - so Gozzer (2.12), Phone (2.12), and Garyb72 (2.08) were the closest. Well played chaps.

It's by far the biggest perch I've had from this bit of river and I was very pleased with it. I was half expecting it to nudge over the 3lb mark, it looked very big in real life. A very welcome start to this year's perch fishing. Its colours were really striking, with bold, dark stripes and blood red fins.

The angle does add quite a bit of weight to it - it's a good trick if you want to make fish look bigger! A photo of a chub from last season was the same, I reckon I could have sent it in to the comics as an 8lber

I'd have had it, but I assumed it had swallowed the bleak, so I added a couple of ounces. :whistling:

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

When I was a lad, there was an old guy who used to keep his catch in a keep net and used to add the Gudgeon, Bleak and Ruff to the Chub and Perch he caught so they could feed up. His motto was to always weigh your Perch at the end of the day as they would have grown on. Have no idea if they will in fact hunt in a keep net and this guy was as made as a coot. Although now thinking back did he delibertly just try to look crazy as he used to have a lot of free swims either side of him, when other sections of the river where packed.

Ooops may be drifting off topic, but it does involve Perch weights :D

Androo,

Was it necessary to use Gozzer and Phone in the same sentence?

Phone

Don't worry Phone, I'm not a proud chap, I don't mind slumming it now and again. :P
