River fishing put on hold!!!!

In flood or fast flowing conditions in the winter, especially where wading is concerned, I wear an automatically inflating life jacket. I use the KS from Fox, which is no bulkier than a scarf (it certainly has never impeded my fishing, or walking to and from swims). Waders full of water can happen very quickly when it's muddy. Personally, I'd like to pop up to the surface again if possible. The initial outlay really isn't much, when you consider your life may be saved!

Flood fishing can be great fun at this time of year. If you're able to find areas of slower water, big catches are on the cards. Don't let any weather forcast put you off!

Well the Upper Avon was in full flood yesterday (despite being ASSURED by the local tackle shop, when I phoned late Friday afternoon, that it was not  ). Ended up fishing a feeder with my match rod and centrepin! Would have been even madder if it wasn't for the fact we caught! I had 11 grayling and Paul had 7 - we both managed a brace of 'pounders' and a couple of spotties in the bargain. We were both pretty chuffed to have winkled out fish from such a coloured river....(especially grayling which aren't noted for liking coloured water!)

He could have told you correctly for the time you called - or the last time he'd looked. Here's the way one of my local rivers can change.
