How early for tench?

Hi all, hope you all had a good christmas! :drunk:

Been wondering recently how early is too early for tench. I want to have a good go at them this year on a club water with fish to about 5lb, but didn't know when to start.

If you were targeting tench at the start of the season, when would you start? March? April? May?

Thanks for any replies, and a great new year to you all.....Tight lines! :)

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

Been catching the odd one or two all winter. Last week in November I had 6 one day :)

Generally though, if you want to "target" them, then April/May are probably the best times.

In this weather probably January !!!!!!!!!!

I guess Spring is a good bet say around April +

But like others have said you have always got a chance of catching anything.

I guess it is a target we could all set ourselves - a picture of a tench, on an unhooking mat, in snow.
