I reckon it might be a legitimate photo.

 

Typical sub-editors mess-up though with a rather shambolic headline and photo caption... :rolleyes:

Ive got no problem believing that.Ive caught many Mullet and Flounder a lot further inland than that and above Tidal locks. Bass often run up into nigh on freshwater as well.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Sounds and looks OK to me too. OK the angler concerned knew only a little about bass, and the "reporting" didn't help - but there is no reason whatsoever to doubt a big bass in the Royalty would accept a dead herring. We get bass in Sussex rivers a lot further inland than the Royalty is.
