Weather permitting, I go at least once a week throughout the year, normally on a 24/48 session. I am out this wednesday thro to thursday on Hatfield Forest after the Bream...

Its getting very mild this week so a trip to thr relief channel at the weekend hopefully.

 

Sorted 4 swims at LAA yesterday to bivvy friendly size and built a bridge to the island just need to board it know.

I was out yesterday aiming to fish a few swims for chub and then settle into the roach area for dusk to try for a decent roach. The first part went pretty well, I had my second chub of the winter from the new stretch, a very nice fish of 5.12. Despite the rubbish conditions of up and down temperatures and severe lack of flow, I am starting to feel like I'm making a little progress, and am encouraged by the size and condition (and apparent age) of the chub.

 

The second part didn't go so well - not a bite! I don't know if they were just elsewhere, not feeding, or if I was doing something wrong, but either way it wasn't happening. So I gave it up as a bad job and went off chubbing again at the easy streamy section, and had another small chub from there.

 

It felt quite warm in the day but I think the water temperature must still be very low, and after dark the air temperature really plummeted and froze the net solid! This morning there's a heavy frost and ice over the side streams; and the temperaure for mid-week is forecast at 15 degrees :rolleyes: Madness.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I would if I knew what had happened. I made a fatal mistake and went fishing at the weekend and know I don't know anything. I am so out of the loop.

I better stay in this weekend :D

 

With the temperatures rising I think I will brave my first over nighter of the year. Will be trying for a Zander and some Bream on the local river and do some Pike fishing during the day.
