Just read the piece on the BBC site before coming on here.

So much for experts eh!. He reckons a perch took the goose. Does he mean one of ours or a nile perch?

I take it a spot of livebaiting on the Lea could be very interesting

The boatman works for the "Lea rivers trust???????????" I wouldn't trust him with a chip shop. Where do they get these idiots from??

And as for the spokesman for the Wildlife trust...would you "trust" his judgement??????

Apart from that, Canada geese can and DO dive under the water at times, and swim a fair distance before surfacing, certainly up to 15metres. I have witnessed this on a couple of different lakes in the last couple of years.

Problem with so many of these so called experts is that they don't spend enough time actually observing what is going on in the waters they are "entrusted" with.

that sounds an awful lot like the sales assistants and tech support at PcWorld. they are around all these computers and dont know jack about them and they expect us to trust their judgment.

typical tech support:

yes sir you need to reformat using your windows 95 boot disk.

me:

excuse me im on linux

tech:

this is for pc support not penguins

Well if the perch is anything like the one I lost yesterday then it could well be the case!

Oh the agony! I'm sure you've all been through this. It was just inches from the landing net....... I was about to smash my PB by about 2lbs (I've never caught a pound perch before! :D ) and then it came off!

I thought I had a decent chub on at first and I couldn't believe it when I saw it was a perch.

I'm still in shock! So close.............. :(

Oh well, at least I know where I'll be fishing next time. :)

The best time to fish is when you have a chance.

More bad press for reptile keepers :(

More like his boat trips have been slow and now he's fully booked with people wanting to spot a crocodile.

If it indeed was a pet then it wernt brought into the country legal.

To keep a croc as a pet you need a dwa, and its not a case of telling them its dead and flushing it down the toilet, I think every movment would have to be recorded.

I'm fond of the dwalf caimens, top end of 3ft, mrs has put her foot down on that one though

Cheers
