A simple answer---- No ----

 

Some of the places I fish are that hard to catch fish. I think i must be totally INSANE for even bothering!!!

Its the unpredictabily and variation that keeps me going back for more

I suppose if you tried different tactics, bait, rigs venues etc, there would still be satisfaction in catching your target, but like Zenith says, if you don't go with any particular target in mind, or fishing an unknown water (if there's any left) I'd like to think the enthusiasm would still be there.

Depends on what you mean by your intended quarry. If it were just a particular species, I'd definitely carry on. If it were big specimens of my target species I'd pretty soon get bored. If there's no challenge I quickly lose interest.
