SPAM Update

Well, things just go from bad to worse...

 

The latest round of SPAM to be sent out, with a fabricated go-fishing address as the 'Reply To', concerns a porn site. Therefore, not only do I receive the tens of thousands of bounces every day, but also the abuse from the recipients, too. It's fab....NOT!

 

The mail server here has packed up twice through overloading and the server, in general, has been overloaded at times, causing i to run very slowly.

 

This SPAM has cost me a lot of time and money, as it is affecting my business in the same way as AN.

 

I was supposed to go to a Press Day today for Trussons Mere, a place near here that has taken years to create, but had to cancel and spend the whole day downloading SPAM and discussing possible solutions with my ISP. Looks like the only way is to turn off the mail server for a while.

 

In the meantime, please forgive me if the site has the odd 'hiccup'. I've gone through the "mega-depressed about it all" stage now (sorry to those who experienced this on the phone!) and am now in the "**** it!" frame of mind. I'll continue to download this junk, just to keep the sites going, but I've decided to make sure there's plenty of music being downloaded in the background....tonight, I will be mostly listening to The Damned, The Clash, ATV, Henry Rollins, Patti Smith, Betty Boo and The Shirelles!

Elton, I agree with Newt and John, just let us know. I know you will have the full support of all at AN.

 

Some time ago there was a thing about blocking spam but I lost it, some sort of programme that you can down load or something like that.

 

Are there enough of us to out spam these people?

Would it help if all of us bombarded them with mail, Hell I can leave mine on all night.

Lets burn the bastards out. :mad:
