Proud Dad

There's nothing to be more prouder than a dad celebrating his son's 8th birthday, seeing him smile when he opens his presents and find he's got a full coarse setup, priceless smile on his face and i'm taking him out tommorow which has made him smile even more :)

That's great Rob, just make sure he doesn't show you up by catching more, you'll never live it down. :D

My regret was that my lad was never into angling. We went a few times but he lost interest when all the food was gone.

The last time he went chasing some ducks, slipped and fell in. It was only a foot deep, but he was soaked. When we got home he told his mum I'd got angry and thrown him in! I started to get a right ear full, until I got the chance to tell the real story. <_<

He was about 10 by then, and never came with me again.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Nice one. I bet he smiles like that when he catches a good fish too!

Oh yes, Andrew did quite well, Mr Independant lol, he got a couple of small roach and got a good 1lb perch, never seen the lad so happy, he stuck his own bait on the hook, managed to shot up his float properly, cast out perfectly into the far margin, he listened to every little instruction and advice and never moved from his chair when his float was in the water :) very very proud dad, he cannot wait for our next session even wants to help make his own groundbait and riddle his own maggots, definatley hooked :)

I've started a bit of a saying with him to help him when fishing C.U.P.R Catch, Unhook, Photo, Release, and andrew has been saying it over and over and now has it off by heart :)

He's part of the new generation of anglers and i want to teach him right, so he can do the same when he's my age ;)
