Has spring sprung?

RUDD

Recommended Posts

Just seen a painted lady sunning its self on next doors conservatory. The crocus are in full swing in local parks.

Yesterday we watched two buzzards flirting and saw a Marsh harrier along the deben.

In the backgarden the birds are busy whilst in full song.

Has spring arrived or is it just a false start?

Been out in the garden all day. Nice during the day but still too cold at night. I think it is the 20th of March when spring officially starts.

23rd, first day of the wrecking season :boat::fishing1::fishing:

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Climatologically and meteorlogically spring starts on March 1st. It's the equinox that's later in the month when day and night are of equal length.

Whilst the first of the month is just an arbitrary convenience, all climate and weather stats are based on this. Spring is March, April and May; summer June, July and August; autumn September, October and November, winter December, January and February.

You had better tell the Greenwich people they have it wrong Steve.

They state that it starts on 20th march at 7.02 AM EDT, and that although people like the MET office say it is March 1st, it is only for convenience sake. Another case of "dumbing down"?

It appears that the MET office are even upsetting Mp´s with their comments now...(See link)

Interesting, Captain - thanks for the link.

As a keen amateur astronomer I can see why from the astronomical point of view the equinox may have been considered to be the start of spring. This is when the midday sun crosses the celestial equator. It doesn't go back into the southern hemisphere until the autumn equinox in September.

But this is dividing the year into just two parts, effectively summer and winter. Yet our seasons are divided into four!

We're also not talking about astronomy here but climate (and certainly not the nonsense that astrology is as mentioned in the article!). So as far as I'm concerned it's more nearly correct to call the start of spring 1st March. Note that I said nearly correct, as whatever date is chosen is purely arbitrary, especially as climate change has mucked up the dates.

There's another interesting article in Wikipedia explaining that different countries have different starting days for the seasons. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer.

Edit note: here's more from the Wikipedia entry for winter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter; for spring: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_(season); for autumn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autumn.
