i'd pick dragoncarp (ck,avanti whatever other names they use) as they do both tackle and terminal tackle mght not carry the same kudos as other brands but they get the job done.

Hardys have returned to the coarse market.

They are expensive.

They are also absolutely amazing.

My experience is that the customer service is great. When I had a problem, they responded magnificently, even though it was my idiocy that had caused the problem.

More importantly, the products are sublime... their float rods are to die for...

unfortunately theres very few manufacturer's left ,rods perhaps if they make their own blanks but are there any reels made inhouse today bar the odd pin or two?

orvis used BFR to make its reels (they eventually bought them out) but BFR is now defunct and become a bit of a huge chinese company and i cannot find out if they still make reels in china or just are hanging onto the tradename for future chinese factory clones.

so do we mean distributor instead of manufacturer?

Svenderson sports who cover Ron Thompson/Okuma/Sceirra solid performing gear that does what it claims to do without very silly price tags.

No one's mentioned TFG yet - are they very unfashionable or is it just me that finds their gear pretty good value for money?

I've got a couple of carp rods, a great landing net and unhooking mat, a bivvy and bedchair - all do exactly what it says on the tin and were much cheaper than some of the "leading" brands. Haven't tried their reels (yet) but they also look good value.

I know you have to put up with Matt Hayes' boat race on the label, but it's a small price to pay. :)

TFG/Airflow/Fishtec? Have you had any dealings with thier 'customer service dept'? In my opinion wouldn't go near them with a barge pole! .

But on the other hand IF you get a good product off them, they have got some good priced items.

Prologic and Okuma for me by the way!

Im glad this is only ficticious but I would have to choose

Rods n Reels: Greys (If Harrisons sold good reels as well then I would choose them)

End tackle and bits: Drennan

However If I had to choose more reasonably priced tackle then I would probably choose:

Rods n Reels: Diawa

End tackle and bits: Drennan

It would be easier if we could choose seperate manufacturers for rods and reels. :)
