WTF is Selhurst Park? Can one fish there?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

little onions:

Corydoras, that quote jogged a distant memory. We learnt it as a song at Primary School (too many moons ago), can't quite remember the first verse.

Anything to oblige a lady with a taste for poetry.

Quinquireme of Nineveh from distant Ophir,

Rowing home to haven in sunny Palestine,

With a cargo of ivory,

And apes and peacocks,

Sandalwood, cedarwood, and sweet white wine.

Stately Spanish galleon coming from the Isthmus,

Dipping through the Tropics by the palm-green shores,

With a cargo of diamonds,

Emeralds, amethysts,

Topazes, and cinnamon, and gold moidores.

Dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack,

Butting through the Channel in the mad March days,

With a cargo of Tyne coal,

Road-rails, pig-lead,

Firewood, iron-ware, and cheap tin trays

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Thankyou. Our singing teacher (a 2,000 year-old

Rottweiler of a woman), managed to get a class of 40 seven year olds singing this. Of course, that was in the days when teachers could resort to violence!

Help me unhook these, please.

Reading Dday by stephen e. ambrose, the guy who wrote band of brothers.

I just never knew what really happened and this book is so easy to read.

Just finished Bill bryson notes from a small island and will read my just bought signed edition of Casting at the sun next.
