Nice one Mike, as another "old timer" I know what it means to you :)

Excellent catch!

As a fairly new fisherman, I'm now beginning to understand why so many people seem to struggle when I tell em my PB barbel (given I've only been targetting them for this past summer only)....didnt realise fish of that size were so hard to come by!!!!

On that basis, I could be waiting a looooooong time before I beat my PB :-(

Well done again.....its a great feeling to catch something special aint it :sun:

Depends a lot on where you fish, 12 lbs would be an exeptional fish on the Teme for example. The bigger and well fed rivers such as the Trent, Upper Ouse and middle Severn, will regulary throw up a fish of this size, its all relative really. The fact is that the average weight of barbel like so many of our heavyweight species is increasing due to the artifically introduced high protein food.

Great PB Congratulations :clap::clap::clap:

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

"Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work."

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.
