Another vote for any type of float fishing here, if I really had to pick a favourite it'd be early summer, crack of dawn tench fishing - lift method next to the lillypads!

And not long to go now !

Whatever sort of fishing I'm doing at the time ;)

Using float gear in clear running water for roach is probably my favourite freshwater method though.

Prefer active rather than passive methods, and fishing for fish I can see.

I'm with Vagabond.

I really enjoy active rather than passive fishing, but frankly, I enjoy fishing whichever style I'm using at the time according to the species I'm trying to catch.

If pressed, a stick float and centrepin gets my vote, though.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

Has to be float fishing on still water something hypnotic[sp] about the float.Still love to use the swing tip for Bream.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Lure fishing, preferably with a multi, a 7'6" baitcaster, and a spoon. Pure hunting, pure angling!

Just when things were going so well Peter :)

It's difficult to have one favourite because I like different methods for different reasons.

For sheer excitement it has to be fishing floaters for carp (or chub, but you don't get much suspense with them). Most exciting when you can see the carp inspect the bait before taking or turning away.

For Zen-like mind-emptying relaxation, I'd take long trotting on a river like the middle Severn; the process of casting, feeding, retrieving is more mechanical than more technical small river scenarios. You become absorbed.

For atmosphere, the distilled essence of coarse fishing, it's fishing the lift method for tench.

Every other method has something to commend it. Variety is the key.
