Metric tonne = 2000lb

Imperial ton = 2240lb

????????????????????

A metric tonne is 1000 kg and 1 kg is 2.205 lb (rounded to three decimal places)

so a metric tonne is roughly 2205 lb - ie only 35 lb less than an Imperial ton.

 Glenn has already said that

think twice before you bbq the horses, they may be worth more alive

No, don't. Less horseboxes for me to have more head-ons with on country roads. :yeah:

I came out at 7 tonnes, but it's so ambiguous.

My wife's nice little eco-friendly sportscar would have been classed the same as my 17mpg Evo, which would have been way out. On a 100 mile journey, that thing loses about a tonne.

I was thinking that a metric tonne was the same as a short ton, which is 2000lb.

That's how I remembered it from school many years ago , obviously my memory let me down on this occasion.:headhurt:

as I had already said

I'll leave this one to others.

I'm sticking with that, absolutely nothing will get me drawn into a slanging match on any internet forum.
