The Autumn Perch Thread

I had one dropped run on a livebait and a few tiddlers on lobs.

My experience this morning, except there were two dropped runs on a 3" gudgeon

I try to tell myself these were just fish of around the pound mark.............. :(

Perfect perch morning so Paul and I yomped several miles of towpath this morning looking for new perch swims. Found several good candidates which threw up perch of varying sizes (and a few chub) though the swim that produced (to me) this 3lb 6oz fish has been duely noted! (Especially as it also produced a 'back-up' fish of 2lb 7oz!)

Pic a bit blurry - think there was some condensation on the lens!

Jeez Plumby....sorry I was a few hundred yards away further down the canal at the time and not able to take a pic for you.....Steves' pic is way better than yours......even if he is trying to mask the fish with his mitts

Ok so we'll deduct 3oz for the poor quality pic (rule 22b)....that means that JV44 is still in the lead.

Truth spoken in jest?

Went back to same location.

Another dropped run

Then another run met with "success" - a seven-inch perch ingested tried to ingest my four-inch gudgeon, but got hooked instead..

A third run produced a one pound perch.

Question Do I give up this location as a bad job, or do I persist ? The known best perch was 2-15 in 2007, since when there has been nothing reported over 2 lb. However, it does not seem to have been fished for perch recently, so I thought it possible a new cohort of bigger fish might be coming through.
