Well, then; come up to sunny Queensland, as there is room enough. And, we do have modern things, like TV and electric trains and lots of air conditioners and.....er..... very few wood heaters. ;) ;)

It's tempting mate very tempting, speaking of wood heaters we have had ours going for 24 hours a day for the last 4 days.

my mind not only wanders-- sometimes it leaves completely.

For Clifftop: :whistling:

Plenty of 'Party Politics' re the Qld coal trade in that the incumbent government is tardy, to say the least, about the shipping of coal to China and japan. 44 coal tankers are waiting just off shore to be loaded and most will have to wait for a month to 5 weeks for their berthing. The problem?? Qld Rail has 1 line and perhaps 5 mines to cater to. Each train carts 9600 tonnes of coal and is 2 km long, but it takes 4 hours to load/unload each train. The Qld coal industry incompetancy is costing the State approximately $1b a year.

  • 2 weeks later...
MELBOURNE has just 63 weeks' of water left in its dams

Melbourne's water stores yesterday remained at 28.5 per cent, holding nearly 505,000 million litres. This time last year, the city's dams were 48.6 per cent full, holding 862,000 million litres.

Professor Peter Cullen, a commissioner with the National Water Commission, calculated that while Melbourne's dams contained 63 weeks' supply, Sydney's had 101 weeks and Adelaide's had just 32 weeks. Brisbane's and Canberra's dams contained 68 weeks' supply, and Perth's 65 weeks.

I received a power point presentation that had some very impressive flooding photos from what I assume was that area. Too much of a good thing I think.

My thanks to whoever sent it. I'm assuming it was someone on here but I didn't recognize the email address so can't be sure exactly who.
