Pam was Cat 5 when it hit Vanuatu. Very little news yet but I suspect that a tragedy may unfold overnight.

That's the capital with a sea wall and concrete buildings. It's the folks with wooden homes with a tin roof living on all the rest of the islands (some barely above sea level) that you have to worry

Sad to say, there have been a number of deaths.

Thanks for that, Chris. In the illustration of the cat. 5 cyclone paths, Ului hit us, but no damage to houses, although thousands of tons of sand were ripped from our foreshore. We had 1 banana plant knocked down...

 

Olwyn is no longer a cyclone, but a depression. Hopefully, the Perth Region will get much needed rain.
