A Nice Catch of Mullet

Recommended Posts

I don't think Iceland made any thing better, they just got it all for them selves.

So our mistake was to join the eu, they inturn are controlling all the fishing grounds that are now being overfished. There is not enough to go around. Defra is in the middle trying unsuccessfully to control our bit when all the time it's the eu cock up and it will never get better under the eu control as there are new members joining all the time. That means less take for us. No wonder we have all got the ump.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Even if that good thing happend, the rsa would still be plugging for mls increase and ntz. etc, etc, and commercial would look for more quota, etc etc. The good thing is that we would have a lot more money to waste at home instead of giving it to the eu for nothing in return.

So what has iceland got or what did they do to make it better? Apart from the cod war that is.

Hi barry luxton

Iceland have got management policies that work

Most if not all our cod is imported from Iceland and Norway where they have looked after the fishery.

Just try and imagin Wurzel what our fish stocks could of been like if the creedy commercial fishermen had not of almost bled them dry. You might of been even ritcher that you are now!

Other than cod our fish stocks are not so bad, there never was much cod in the UK waters that is why we went to Iceland for it, that is why once stopped from fishing Icelandic waters they scrapped the fleet.

Never met a greedy commercial fisherman, met a few successful ones though.

Hello Fishingsfine

You are hard work to keep up with one minuet you are talking about cod the next pelagic fish.

I doubt that exccess ( I can't call it over fishing, there is nothing wrong with the pelagic stocks) fishing by Irish and UK vessels will happen again due to the buyers and sellers, other nations ? thats a different story.

I fish to live and live to fish.

So you don't think Iceland exports what others used to catch then.

Of course they do, they made a fisheries management policy so there are now enough fish to catch, eat and export.

If I ever get the hang of it they'll bloody well ban it!

By the way anyone fancy sponsoring me in the WSOP?

Iceland has a 135mm minimum mesh size on trawls and even bigger on gill nets. We have a 120mm one, subject to derogation for uncle Tom Cobbly and any half assed excuse they can think of. Iceland has decent sized cod. We don't.

:offtopic:

Is the trawl net size for cod? Can some one remind me of the assumed cod stock and this years take please? North sea.

Excuse ignorance but;

1) what is pelagic fishing? i never heard of it till last couple of days

2) If the cod stocks were never that big in the first place then why does everyone bang on about the lack of them?

3) What about the other 'rarities' such as decent sized coalfish etc.?

4) The guys who fish further afield (Azores etc.) what would they be targetting?

There seems to b a lot of contradictory 'facts' being bandied about cunningly diguised as opinions.

Happen to agree with Wurzell that there's a big difference between greedy and successfull.

Maybe we should sink Iceland as well as the French?!?

The Uk minimum mesh size for gill nets is 140 mm for cod with no derogation for any body.

Did you not notice the big cod that the fishermen featuring in the resent " the trawler men" on TV made great pains to show off ?
