We moved into this house in 1963, and the fridge we installed (English Electric) is still cooling my Fosters and providing ice cubes for Norma's Pimms to this day

Have a look at the wiring urgently ,when we moved here in 2001 we cleaned up in the motor area and noticed every single wire was shedding its insulation ,i rewired it fully but even touching the wires and the insulation fell off!

Being steel covered its not good to have a live fridge !

I know, I know: but just the thought, whether metaphorical or literal of a Yank not pulling a trigger was amusing to me, I'm even chuckling again now.
